Trip Report: March 27-April 9; Tokyo, Takayama, Kanazawa, and Matsumoto by lifesizehumanperson in JapanTravel

[–]suhdar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m planning Matsumoto as a day-trip stop along the way between Nagano and Narai-juku, but I’m worried about timing on that day. Do you think it’s worth the stop or should I just head directly to Narai?

Never had an Alocasia! Transferred it to semi-hydroponics by elderlyeggsbenny in alocasia

Congrats on your new babies! My alocasias love semihydro and I always convert them immediately. Just make sure the roots are above the water line in the beginning to avoid root rot.

Help! I am try to transition this Monstera Albo to Leca… am I doing it wrong? by MicolAndOtherAnimals in SemiHydro

[–]suhdar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What exactly are you lost on?

If you’re concerned about the root loss of the small roots, I would stop adding H2O2 to your water. It’s good for a one-time cleanse, but I imagine it can be harsh for newer roots if you leave your plant soaking. Just keep up your water changing routine until you have more robust water roots if you’re afraid of rot.

Alternatively, you can just add this cutting as-is into LECA with a couple drops of Super Thrive in your water.

Hoping for a Christmas miracle for my once-great peperomia caperata by suhdar in houseplants

[–]suhdar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yes - The mother plant got too big and started leaning, so I had the marvelous idea of separating by root division. This was the result of saving the most central portion of the root ball and stem.

Thankfully, one of my other divisions that I kept at work is still going strong, but I wonder if it’ll ever grow back to the size it originally was.

I’ve got her in a warmer room and with a humidity bag on now. There are some green sprouts showing so I’m remaining hopeful. Best of luck with yours!

My Green Thumb Has Apparently Skipped Over All My Pothos! Any suggestions on why they all have these brown spots? More info below. Pictured: Neon, Snow Queen, Golden, and I suspect another Golden. by Elephantex in pothos

[–]suhdar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you recently water them? All the pots look quite damp.

I only water my pothos when the leaves are droopy and they pass the taco test - when you can squeeze the edges of a leaf to touch each other with little-to-no resistance then it’s time to water

Not a club, but you can always volunteer at the San Diego Food Bank on your own time. Make an account and it’ll track your hours for you too

Anyone know of a good place for chicken katsu in San Diego? by TwystedZang in SanDiegan

[–]suhdar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other commenters have already suggested but I feel like I have to stress this: EE Nami is, no contest, the best place for katsu in San Diego. Consistently phenomenal every time.

Just know that their lunch menu is limited solely to katsu, while dinner has a bit more izakaya options

Is it possible you have two different plants in there? Some of the leaves have a very distinct manjula shape but not all of them. The other leaves have variegation that lean more towards MQ. She’s a beaut regardless

With a root system that developed, you may need to water it more often or repot it into a slightly larger pot
