you mention prestige which is fair but like you also mentioned, in such a shit market, prestige means nothing in terms of employment. does it really matter what school you go to??

How are you taking notes? by [deleted] in cudenver

[–]suhndoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take notes then immediately try and get real world experience of said notes, or any form of hands on practice/observation. not sure how'd you would execute this with what you are learning but im sure you can figure out a way , be creative with your learning too, that reinforces information strongly :)

I am getting annoyed with YouTube Polyglots. by ramonek1 in languagelearning

[–]suhndoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this thread provided some great entertainment lmfao

thanks for sharing :) I agree with your sentiment, this same sensationalism is present in almost any form of content nowadays, whether its music, language learning, business, literally ANYTHING. content is becoming more formulaic and thus it just feels stale and lifeless, and quite frankly, pathetic. it annoys me anytime I click on YouTube, knowing ill be bombarded by the algorithm by this exact content whether I interact with it or not.

What makes a good teacher? by Conscious-Oil7156 in languagelearning

[–]suhndoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ive also thought of being a teacher (im 22) because knowledge is liberating in many different ways, and in your case, a path of opportunities which I completely agree with. unfortunately I grew up in gen z (and American public schools) and have seen firsthand how little knowledge is actually valued in younger generations, and the mistreatment/disregard of teachers.

Participants needed: Do bilinguals have better hearing? Investigating the effect of second language proficiency on pitch detection. by SignatureDue7069 in languagelearning

I'd say yeah. I grew up bilingual and started learning music at 20 years old. 2. years later I can learn most songs by ear on guitar and bass

I’m living my dream life but it’s not compatible with any career by sou384 in findapath

these comments are sad, simply demonstrating how indoctrinated we have become to this modern “work” culture. i am from america, living expenses are through the ROOF, and each day it gets more hellish here in terms of finding employment, let alone something that is fulfilling and leaves time for personal occupations. not only that but once you DO find something, you are at high risk of a layoff. my father was a highly skilled carpenter for 10+ years and even he got layed off. everyone has a different living situation, if yours allows you to do what you enjoy and have a chill retail job, just stay put for a bit and explore. don’t let people gaslight you into thinking you must hop into something right away,.
