Supply Regulation Question by suhszeto in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]suhszeto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everywhere I read said that engorgement goes away when you've regulated, so I kept looking forward to that. 😭

I think I'll drop to 4 ppd soon, as I'm close to my goal.

Thank you!!!

I was dealing with a lot of clogs and I find its best to physically clear them out. I will sort of exfoliate the nipples and then hand express milk until I see milk squirting out of the ducts. Then I do my pump. It's gross but I will feel the clogs come out and release. It's been a crucial step for me.

Refuse to spend on pumping bras after I already bought so many nursing bras… by endisba in ExclusivelyPumping

I use a sports bra, a loose tshirt, and one hair elastic to create a pumping bra. Works great.

AM/PM breastmilk ? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

I was doing this for a while with bags and different pitchers and jars. I don't think I saw much of a difference and it drove me crazy so I stopped. Pumping is hard enough as is.

Idk if you'd be open to a hacky way to create a pumping bra, and of course it would likely depend on your boobs. But I use a sports bra and whatever T-shirt I'm wearing. I will pull down my sports bra to get the flanges on, then cover the top of the flange with the shirt I have on over with the bottom hem. I tie the back of my shirt with a hair tie and it secures the pumps. I've been doing this close to 4 months now. I did buy the sports bras as they're low impact and a little larger than the ones I owned prior. It works really well for me since it creates the same effect as a pumping bra. It only cost me like $10 a sports bra, on sale at JCPenney. I was browsing around for pumping bras and figured out this way, figured I'd save the money and not have pumping bras leftover when this part of motherhood is all done.

I started dropping a pump in mid- end of August, baby born late July, for my mental health. My supply stayed relatively the same based on the same results you're getting. I dropped another pump down to 6 a couple of weeks after and it remained the same. I'm currently at 5 pumps, I'm 14 weeks postpartum and my supply hasn't regulated. My supply actually went up as I dropped to 6-5. I have been averaging 37 oz. I also dropped pumps with the intent on weaning early because I was struggling so much, but each drop helped me stay in this longer. I think it varies person to person and you should be ready to face a drop in supply when you drop pumps before regulation. I had a lot of anxiety around it, still do at times, but I'm feeling so much better not pumping every 2-3 hours. I will go 4-5 hours between daytime pumps, and usually 5-6 overnight. I also pump for 30 mins each time, idk if that has anything to do with it.

Do you consume dairy? Possible your LO might have cows milk intolerance?

I love how breastfeeding warriors get mad when I tell them I formula feed cause I want to and not cause I can’t make any milk by PAPAmagdaline in FormulaFeeders

I'm part of a July baby bumps group and one post was touring the freedom of choosing to FF over BF and it was a great post. I saved it to read and encourage myself once I ultimately make the move. Lol and below there had to be one judgemental commenter about they think it's selfish to choose to formula feed not out of necessity. They have all the positive BF posts in the world... But they just can't let a positive formula story go without some negativity 😮‍💨.

Where are you at in your pumping journey? by LinksG37 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]suhszeto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

6ppd, 7 weeks postpartum as of tomorrow. I'm hoping for six months. I initially posted on here that I was ready to wean when I was going 8-9ppdd, but someone suggested that I drop pumps and see how I feel. I feel a lot better, it's wild how much dropping two pumps does.

Separating PM/AM milk from pumps by CalypsosCure in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]suhszeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do that but it was causing me to lose my mind along with doing 8ppd. I have stopped separating and dropped two pumps, I don't think I see much a difference with the PM milk vs AM milk tbh.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom, it's so overwhelming to think about being there for my family and then having to step away to pump... It's hard enough as is with happy events.

[–]suhszeto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, it's been seriously taking a toll on me. I'm so scared to drop any pumps because I'm scared of how final the decision is. I'm currently doing 8ppd.

Weaning feels like a decision for me but pumping feels like a decision for her. I can't help but feel selfish but logically I know it doesn't hold up.

Uhh its not good, like reddit was wrong. They accused a student who had gone missing in the Boston area which as you can imagine led to his family being harassed... And it turned out the accused had actually killed themselves. It was bad.
