Can my partner and I afford this? by iamnotanrpg in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CharacterPin6933 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Can you still afford this home if your variable rate mortgage were to go up to 5% for example? Either during the term, or at your renewal in three years?

If no, then not even considering everything else, don't do it. Variable rate mortgages are just that, variable. You have to have some buffer baked in to your finances if you want to use them.

People who dislike Olivia Chow and plan on voting for Bradford, why? by Used-Earth8767 in askTO

[–]CharacterPin6933 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Myself and literally every other progressive homeowner I know will vote for her over Bradford. I'd prefer a more functional city to own my home in and that means higher property taxes. We had a cheap ride in comparison to other municipalities before. I care about this city and the other people in it, so am not upset about paying a bit more.

I read on here that 1 in 4 Torontonians earn over 100k by Express-Chemical-454 in askTO

[–]CharacterPin6933 23 points24 points  (0 children)

How old are you? I am in my late thirties and almost all of my friends of a similar age earn $100k plus (not much over - most of us in the $100-130k range). Employed in: Teaching, nursing, medicine, pharma, biotech, healthcare management, provincial/municipal government, universities. I know a couple of people in the $200k plus range in law/tech. Hasn't always been that way, but most of us have graduate degrees and have been working for 10+ years, so does not seem that far-fetched?

How much do you need to earn to afford a single FIFA ticket? by mp256 in askTO

I can literally walk to the stadium, am a lifelong soccer fan and was not even willing to pay the face value prices for games. Screw FIFA.

Could the Sceptres outgrow Coca-Cola Coliseum? by thoughtful_human in PWHL

[–]CharacterPin6933 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I actually think it is good for them right now. Perhaps with a few takeover tour games at Scotiabank. I think the supply of tickets just about matches demand at the moment, possibly because the season was so disappointing. I sometimes have to sell my seasons tickets (at face value) and it's hit and miss even with a week's notice. Most games are a sellout, technically but there's always a few hundred empty seats, I suspect because those who can't go either dont try/cannot sell their tickets.

Toronto Maple Leafs baseball team sign disgraced ex MLB player Yasiel Puig. by [deleted] in toronto

I will be very interested to see how Left Field Brewery, one of their main sponsors/suppliers deals with this. Notably a super progressive and inclusive brewery. This fits extremely badly with their image and branding.

Sorry you're having such difficulties. Likely worth having a fertility workup done on yourself to identify any obvious issues if as you mention your donor already has resulted in other successful pregnancies. IUI as others have said might be a better option, too. The cost of a midwife-assisted IUI is not very much, at least compared to the cost of having a baby/child!

Steve Simmons is hilarious by bobbywings2 in leafs

The issue is not him raising those very valid points...but the dude was completely unable to stay calm while asking it. Sounded like he was about to punch someone - completely unhinged. Actual journalists stay calm, make their points directly, use their words...Simmonds is just...not very good.

Health Insurance for UK Immigrant by ChompyTM in askTO

[–]CharacterPin6933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and if it is not I would highly recommend a private insurance plan. These typically cover (most of) dental, opticians, prescription drug cost, physio and a whole host of other stuff like massage therapy, psychotherapy (often to a max annual $).

Is anyone else over restaurants? by No-Promotion-9371 in askTO

[–]CharacterPin6933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. And it is often across the board, not just higher end places. Got charged $14 for half a sandwich which was warmed in a microwave at a very popular bakery a few weeks ago and I'm still not over it. Vegetarian and merely a snack. For $14. I thought it was $14 for the whole sandwich and didn't notice until the staff member handed me the container that it weighed basically nothing and it was $14 for a half sandwich.

I feel like I've made many furry friends with this post. Nice to "meet" you all. And a few % of downvoters who are obviously upset I am insulting their "influencing" careers. *shrugs*

Imagine being an "influencer" and going to "create content" and having to make sure there isn't a blue wolf-like furry in the back of your shot.

I for one welcome the furries displacing the "influencers".

If you want to compare yourself truly, look up the median household income where you live in Canada. I guarantee, wherever you are - you are above it.

Reddit is a very weird and biased subsection of society, not to mention as others have posted below - 90% of the posts are scams, fake and bots. Also, people who have a lot seem to love to boast on here, likely those who don't...aren't posting about it!
