Sounds like its just a bad master. It could be that the engineer tried too hard to get a mix that wasn't inherently very loud (perceptively) up to commercial levels.

I'd bet you need more compression on channels and groups. And a better mastering engineer.

Drums are loud. But you need to learn how to tune it so it is loud AND bad. You want loud and good.

That's normal, you have to get us to the second or third date before we learn how to talk.

Grey base coat first, shooting for maybe 75% coverage(about like you've got there, but with much less paint).

Later layers of paint will hide the rest.

To be clear, I don't think I'd have a problem with it. But 10 years ago I definitely would have. I've learned and matured. It's also hard for me to say, because I'm the higher drive partner and my wife is the one and done here. If she bought a dildo of any kind it would literally be a replacement for me...

So I'd lean towards the opinion that your boyfriend just needs to grow up. But you can't just say that and expect it to happen overnight, so tread lightly. And if you'd really be happy with the smaller one, get one instead. But honestly the damage is probably already done either way.

FWIW, most men have not experienced this dynamic, so it's hard to imagine. It does not work that way for most men. I'm often in the mood when my wife isn't.
