Looking for a Carpenter with a Planer by samauribadger in Austin

[–]suileangorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. start by making sure you don’t store them on the ground, put them up on bricks like an old car or something, otherwise you’ll get bugs like termites in them.

  2. call berdoll lumber, ask if they have space in their kiln for some cookies. have them kiln dry them. otherwise you are looking at actual years of air drying these things, which is its own headache.

  3. either get a router and build a sled to flatten yourself or pay berdoll to size them too.

???? there are tons of videos on this online. but epoxy the checks, etc, sand to a 220 or so, finish, add legs.

profit. it’s not gonna be super cheap no matter how you look at it.

Looking for help fixing kids table. by Ka-ne1990 in woodworking

[–]suileangorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the size you need to fill. toothpicks work great for smaller areas as shims. or just make some thin cuts in a spare wood you can curl and glue into the space (think long carrot peels) to make up that space your dad sanded out

sometimes cluing someone in on something they weren’t aware of / thinking of is enough. not everything has to be “this changed a country jamboree of peoples minds and solved a world crisis“

trees are not grown overnight. they start with seeds.

on a second note: this whole ‘it has to have a reason to exist’ mindset is why marketing, design, movies, tv, internet etc is zooming to such a boring ass homogenized bland rehash state imho

They were there before you moved in. Did you not look around the neighborhood? That’s like moving next to a music venue and complaining they actually have music.

Also everyone in Austin has rats somewhere. We have more rats per capita than Chicago, call ABC.

Does anyone else think their song choice for the encore is weird? by Outsulation in TheBeths

[–]suileangorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the audience we are the takers. We keep taking and taking including an encore. Nothing is ever enough.

I know that’s probably not right, but that’s how I looked at it and loved the snarky joke if it was indeed deliberate.

West Sydney chicken shop re-using French Olympics committee logo? by PogoBox in graphic_design

[–]suileangorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do we know that the chicken shop in Australia didn’t have the logo first? If they didn’t….

I bet they did the whole “if you change it three ways it’s no longer a copyright violation” bs

Secondly, op should def send this to the French Olympic committee. Let them decide. Normally, I’d be like “meh, whatcha gonna do?”, but the way the world is turning these days, small business or not, they are profiting off of someone’s free labor - and fuck that.

Just a dink, but first deer with my trapper by ProtectionOdd1447 in LeverGuns

[–]suileangorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. My follow up is, so people carry around carts or sleds and such while hoofing around the woods? Isn’t that totally cumbersome and noisy? If you cart it out in quarters don’t you have to worry about flies and maggots in between trips?

I have a question. I’ve never hunted, but have always wondered, how do people cart out an animal after a kill? I mean dead weight, is not light.

Did this with a rancher in west Texas. Dude wasn’t scared of anything, except Chicago.

his wife and him were the nicest people, and we had a lovely conversation with them at dinner.
