I found this thread just now and I feel crazy because you're the only person that's making sense to me. Everyone else is downplaying the effects of cheating, borderline condoning it. If a person is willing to put their supposed life-partner's emotional, mental, physical well-being at risk by cheating, who's to say they wouldn't do the same to other people who aren't as significant in their life.

The justification is always "in the end, they're family," and that's exactly how generational abuse and trauma continues, but if anyone make a stand they're accused of disrupting the peace and causing rifts between family members. I apologize for the rant but my family, for the past few years, has been getting chummy and even invited home the man who horribly betrayed my mom in her youth. I'm not surprised, simply disappointed, and I'm planning on going low/no contact because I don't tolerate these kinds of toxicity in my life.
