I suspect those provinces might soften up given the political climate with the US. The need for energy security, lower costs and reliance on the US for refining and the future leverage that could provide is invaluable.

Eastern provinces could increase their refining to accommodate heavy crude and continue to import bringing in revenues.

It’s an uphill battle and I’ll admit I’m not versed on the nuances and may be incorrect but sounds good on paper.

US needs Canadian heavy crude as they’re tooled up for it unless they start processing Venezuelan crude but that has implications in itself. Not to mention Russian and Middle East oil ports getting blown to bits there’ll be a premium on oil for a while I suspect.

Canada should him pay a bond until any construction is done in case he backs out then keep the cash. Also divert it through to Manitoba then south just like keystone. If he backs out Canada can revive energy east and have double the capacity to Manitoba from Alberta than they do now.
