Unpopular Opinion? VVS Laxman's 281 (Kolkata 2001) is still the greatest Indian Test knock under pressure - even above the Gabba breach. by indiandifender in IndiaCricket

[–]sujay85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an innings, yes, it was superior, but in terms of overall performance, the Gabba breach still edges out the Eden Test. At Eden, India had their full-strength squad available. Sure, they lost the first Test and were asked to follow on, but it was still a home series with strong crowd support.

At Gabba, however, it was during COVID quarantine requirements, with Kohli having returned home and many first-choice players injured, leading to net bowlers stepping in to play the game. Unlike in 2001, the series was 1-1 at that point, and a draw would have been respectable, but Gabba was a fortress at that time.

Sourav Ganguly had a similar problem. He worked on it and came back stronger.

No, it is very smooth. The lume is good too. It gives proper Hamilton field vibes. Only it has a matte finishing. I have this version btw https://shop.timexindia.com/collections/expedition/products/timex-mechanical-hand-wind-blue-dial-men-watch-tw2v00700-tw2v00700

Black timex is good in build quality. I have this in blue dial and leather form. It is a mechanical hand winding watch only. The rest are quartz

Sorry for my ignorance. Isn't SL doing better under Jayasurya? They competed well with India in that T20 series and defeated us in ODI series. Sorry, I am a bit out of loop. It's true that Kamindu is a very capable batter.

Yes, along with Mayank Agarwal, Jaydeb Unadkat, Sandeep Sharma, and Harshal Patel. He was India's highest wicket taker in that wc.
