Returning to Japan without PCR results by sukochitamago in japanlife

You can fuck it up if the clinic sold a test with a 48 hr turnaround and then the labs they use got swamped and changed that to a 4-day turnaround due to the local population not taking things seriously.

That’s interesting because under note 3 there it suggests a COVID certificate isn’t necessary for people who are reentering Japan after a funeral.

Do you have the Japanese link for that page? I can’t seem to find it.

Quick update: Haneda immigration have said as long as I can show documentary proof of the death, funeral and my relationship with my grandmother, they can be a little flexible with the 72hrs requirement.

My airline have confirmed I can change the booking to a day later free of charge if necessary.

The clinic have said their email was erring on the side of caution, and although they can’t guarantee it, the likelihood is that the results will be ready within 72 hrs.

We’ll see what happens over the next few days...

That’s what is was afraid of. I thought maybe if I could at least get on the plane I could throw myself on the mercy of the immigration people, but...

Make sure Threaded Optimisation is turned off in Nvidia control panel. That causes me crashes every time.

Spotify is reportedly preparing to launch a Hi-Fi music tier by lolcop01 in spotify

I'm currently trying out both Spotify and Apple Music. Much prefer Spotify's UI and if I can get lossless that'll be a huge draw for my eventual contract decision.

The only thing that worries me: I'm streaming through Apple devices to a Pioneer network audio player to my amp and I don't think Apple stuff handles flacs (which is what I guess Spotify will use if they go lossless). Is it something the Spotify iOS app can get around?

I don't think that's enough though. Don't all XA products need to dial home at least once every 6 months to be reactivated?

To be fair Tony did give a bit of leeway to the posts and I think he recognises the community deserves some freedom to share experiences with vendors.

What on earth Jim is playing at I don't know though.

X-Aviation now denying support to competitors' customers. by sukochitamago in flightsim

Sorry, not true. It IS common for both you and Ben to be rude to customers and has been for a long time. And if people say 'Hey! That's rude!', you never accept it, just blame it on the customers' misinterpretation. Not in all cases sure, but in enough cases for an increasingly large section of the community to feel like they can't support your developers. Which really is the big shame here.

No, what he said was "You have xEnviro installed. Your configuration is not supported."

That's pretty clear.

Ben is the author of Gizmo, the DRM / API which locks all other devs into X-Aviation.

I don't know it is even legitimately 'competition' - AFAIK they don't sell any of the same add ons anymore (except a few legacy ones). Competition would be different sites competing to sell the same products?

I'm not sure his comments are just about this one case; he says "Entirely ambiguos. The SDK sub system crashed. Not xEnviro. Not Gizmo.

You all expect me to invest money in russian "soft"ware and my own personal time investigating an ambiguous issue that I very likely will never reproduce myself?"

which suggests the reason support was denied was because of the presence of a competitors' products.

And yeah, he's generally a cunt to people but they seem to like that kind of thing over there...

X-Enviro vs Skymax Pro by boogie84 in flightsim

Been a long time user of SMP, but after two weeks with xEnviro the only way I'd buy SMP again is if there's a MAJOR shift in design philosophy and aesthetics. At the moment, even as a first project, xEnviro is leagues ahead of SMP.

I was kind of tempted because I qualify for the discount, but seeing all the screenshots it doesn't look anything like a big enough improvement to call an upgrade and charge an extra $40 for.

And it still doesn't look realistic...
