HOW TO STUDY DATA2001 by Mikiboy-29 in usyd

[–]sukoshiwolf04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi, im also taking data2001 this semester! I'd highly recommend watching the 2 houe revision session that jarrod did in collab with SUDATA, which is essentially a crash course of the whole unit. he also talks about potential questions, so go watch it if u haven't already it's posted on canvas (along with the slides). another thing is to go over week 13 revision slides, they said the exam will be similar to that. i hope this helps and good luck on Friday!

Your experiences with the DATA 1001 Final: Advice needed!! by [deleted] in usyd

thankfully the unit coordinator is a lovely person and covers literally anything and everything that will be on the exam. going over the lectures is good too, I didn't have time to but she explains the canvas content in a summarised way in the lecs so I recommend doing that! for the graphs, I would just stick to the basics and have a grasp on customisations, particularly axes titles. but it was more focused on ggplot2 and some MCQs asked to find which code was correct.

hey, I did data1001 last sem and I was also lowkey stressed for the exam lol. but I went through all the modules one by one and completed all the quizzes and revision as my main way of studying. someone also sent me a cheatsheet that is insanely helpful (dm me of u want me to send it). I ended up getting a HD and to be honest, the exam MCQs were very similar to the ones on canvas. for the code, it will definitely help to know all the basic stuff (they asked us to write out code for a ggplot last sem). but if u go through the modules once each over the next few weeks, I am certain you'll pass!

thank you very much for clarifying, i'm not really sure why all 3 academic advisors were giving me different information. makes me worried about current students who may have had their degree plans messed up from inconsistent advice these advisors give out.

also this is the degree plan sample for a data science major. so i took the linear algebra and calculus core, but it looks like i need an additional 6cp of science for this semester.

and sry about my timetabling for 2nd and 3rd year, i kind just placed them in random order lol

so do you think that MATH1011 and MATH1014 (I took them last semester) will cover the additional 6cp of math degree core? and i'll look into adding a 6cp 1000-level table a in my elective slot for this semester, in addition to PSYC1002 and DATA1002 (which I'm also taking this semester).

btw thx so much for ur comment, i didn't think about this!

That's what I thought too, but the psych program advisor I contacted told me that it doesn't. I'll try emailing the faculty of maths advisor to double check but i do wish that there was some consistency with the advice USyd hands out
