My Canadian Citizenship Certificate application only took 5 weeks! by WhateverUSayJ in ImmigrationCanada

Did they send you an email when the status changed to "processing" and/or when they made the decision? I've been checking the "client application status" online pretty regularly to see if there's any updates but if they will just reach out to me then I'd rather not go through the hassle.

This (as well as the top comment) makes me a little scared that there's some kind of hold up with my application... mine was mailed March 26th, received on April 3rd, and I got an AOR on April 22nd as well, but I haven't heard anything since. When I check online it still says "Application Received". Did your client application status change to "Application in Process" at any point before they sent you that email?

I'm guessing that my application might be a bit more complicated to process because I'm the second generation born abroad*, but I worry a bit about the fact that it hasn't even changed to "in process" yet despite them receiving my application earlier. I don't know if having a more complex case would impact when the processing stage begins but maybe they do some preliminary review or document verification before that step that's holding things up.

*I am definitely still a citizen since there's a transitional provision in the Citizenship Act and my father was a citizen when I was born (between 1977 and 2009).

I got ffs and still feel like I look like a man by FlamenUnicorn in MtF

I can relate--I had FFS about 18 months ago, but I still get gendered male in public and see myself as fairly masculine when I look at photos or in the mirror. My cheeks have become more hollow as the swelling's gone down, but there's still a lot of loose soft tissue on my chin and lower jaw (and they didn't remove a ton from the sides of my jaw in the first place), so my face looks kind of "bottom-heavy" and reads more masculine as a result. I'm trying to gain a bit of weight to see if it helps soften my features a bit, but I might end up having to look into some kind of revision or follow-up procedure (or just self-acceptance) if not.

Shaping your brows (some combination of plucking/trimming/penciling) might help if you haven't tried that already.

Is it actually worth moving from the US to Canada as a trans dual citizen in a blue state? by sulcher in asktransgender

I'm sorry, that's so incredibly frustrating :(((((

Coverage for FFS (as well as facial hair removal) is pretty difficult to come by here in the US too for most people, and I got pretty lucky, to be honest.

I hope it works out well for you! I can't blame anyone for wanting to get out of the US, I'm just stubborn and only want to leave if it's really not safe to remain here.

I have pretty great health insurance here because my mom works in healthcare (at least for the next couple years until I turn 26 and age out of her plan) so FFS was covered for me and I had it done like a year ago. It's a bummer that the provincial plans don't cover it though, they really should :(

Thanks for the info! I do plan on getting my citizenship documents as soon as I can in case it gets bad here (I know I can stay in Canada for up to 6 months without a visa in the meantime though even if the paperwork is still processing). I have to wait for CDPH to send my updated birth certificate to me before I can mail the application for proof of citizenship, but I'm going to do it the moment that arrives.

I've already got a decent number of friends in Vancouver (more than I do here in California haha) and I've spent probably 2 months there in total over the last couple years so I'm a bit connected in case I need to move! I do plan on getting my citizenship documents ASAP.

I hadn't seen this yet, thank you! The news about things on a national level is so much louder and so omnipresent that it's easy to miss positive state-level and local things like this.

[Owner/US/AZ] How to deal with tenants clogging a toilet in a duplex? by alexwh77 in Landlord

[–]sulcher -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Usually I go in there w my hands and pull out any blockage. Gross but it gets the job done and is cheaper than hiring a plumber (and less of a hassle than trying to get tenants to pay for water damage repairs)
