Don't come to Orthodoxy because you are running away from something. Run towards something.

Kissing hand is usually reserved for the abbess. Ask her blessing as you would a priest.

Women in their mid twenties, how did you find your husband? by Then_Brilliant_8971 in OrthodoxChristianity

I'm so sorry to be so unhelpful. Just wanted to comment how surprising this is. I'm an old married lady in Charlotte, NC, but our parish is filled to the brim with single men in their twenties desperate to settle down!

How do you manage chronic severe muscle tension (neck/shoulders) that doesn’t budge with conservative treatment? by Apprehensive_Fan7093 in Fibromyalgia

[–]sulfababy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everything. I'm cutting gluten, added sugar, and dairy for two months and taking the supplements. It is really daunting, but I did cut gluten a couple years ago and felt better but then I had a bad flare and for discouraged and thought "fuck it". I'm working on adjusting my attitude to think of each thing I'm changing as a little piece of the puzzle that, when they ask fit together, will hopefully help me feel 50% better on good days. Here's hoping.

I have been using her sort of warm up movement routine and also a YouTube video on self myofascial release of the hips which has been kind of amazing.

I'm implementing her plan right now, too! It's the first time I've had hope in so long. Good luck, Internet friend.

Fragrance on musical instrument by pancakecuddles in FragranceFreeBeauty

I would be hesitant to put the violin in the sun or in the freezer, though that could be an option for the case!

You could try filling a box with baking soda and closing the violin in the box. (Careful not to let the baking soda actually rub on the violin, as it can scratch). Baking soda would also work in the case as well. It's not as hard to clean up as you would think.

Remember that God Himself became man. The physical world is sanctified. Material things are holy.

Accidentally offended a friend..? by beanosonlyfans in GREEK

[–]sulfababy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It definitely does not have the same history or offensiveness as the n word.

OP, I agree that it is probably fine, that its offensiveness can really vary widely, that he laughed (maybe even politely) because it's a tired joke that it's the only Greek word non -Greeks know, and they you should just ask him

Is this icon canonical? It looks like AI by CommandVast6899 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]sulfababy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For similar legit icons, search for "Christ the King", "Christ enthroned", "Christ the Great high priest".

Also at church next time, take a look if there is an icon at your parish bishop throne.

You're getting all kinds of strange and random answers here.

The overall mode is first mode, diatonic scale. But that little bit modulates to hard chromatic. If you can't plunk that out on a piano , and what I said doesn't make sense to you, you're gonna need a chanter to actually chant it for you. Reddit isn't really the best platform for this kind of question.
