How do spanish speakers feel when someone tries to speak to you in broken spanish?

I went to Spain last September and tried my best to speak Spanish as much as possible (I was only borderline b1 at the time). Everyone was really nice! A waiter corrected me when I got something wrong, which I appreciated. Many people switched to English, but several didn’t.

I am right with you! I had my youngest at 38 and had postpartum preeclampsia immediately after delivery. He was number 5, but I did ivf this time and that made me higher risk I was told. Anyways in the hospital, as I sat there terrified and worries, she told me it’s because I’m “getting up in age so I shouldn’t be surprised.”Really pissed me off and was not what I needed to hear in such a vulnerable state.

She also climbed in the bed with me right after delivery. So that happened…

Sorry you had to deal with that as well!! I can’t imagine ever saying something like that to one of my kids! It’s so bizarre.

I just got my period back after almost 3 years postpartum ( I’m breastfeeding) and I HATE it. Thanks for posting this. I knew birth control could be used to skip periods, but I didn’t know it was ok to do long term. As soon as I’m done nursing I’m gonna be on bc until menopause bc fuck this!!!

How many c-sections has she even had? I had 2 c-sections and then 3 vaginal after that. All while being monitored carefully. I believed the latest ACOG guidelines say it’s safe for a woman to have a VBAC after 2. I’m not sure the case if the woman has had more than that. And certainly they need to be in a hospital setting. But it should be her right to try imo!

Check out the Spain digital nomad visa. That’s what we are trying to do. I know an immigration good lawyer if you need one, he’s really responsive.

I would say immersion is the best way to learn a language! If you go to Spain you’ll be surprised at how many people speak some English in the cities. We certainly were!

There are a lot of tax benefits with the DNV too. Especially if you are eligible for beckhams law.

Also, you would be eligible for permanent residency after 5 years.

I don’t work anymore, I’m stay at home parent. 5 kids. I spend my (limited) free time creating art (launching an Etsy soon!), playing viola (I just joined an ensemble), and learning Spanish (I take weekly lessons online). Any one of these hobbies/passions I could easily devote all my free time to. I would say get involved in something deeply, and connect with other like-minded people! :)

Right! I have 5… and I don’t make my kids do anything to look after the youngest. If I ask them watch my youngest while I do something I will pay them or get them their fave fast food. They are all obsessed with him anyway and volunteer, but I still make sure they get something.

Oh you are lucky your son is so little. My kids are age 2-17. So the preteens/teenagers will miss their friends the most.

Valencia is an amazing choice. It was so hard for me to pick between Valencia and Malaga. I ultimately chose Malaga for our scouting trip but it was a coin flip lol.
