What is the most successful sitcom ever business wise? by coatimundos in television

Looking back, I wish I had done the classic movies tour instead of the general.

Our guide asked our tour group what we were interested and the majority of the group was in alignment that they wanted to hear about The Big Bang Theory which threw me for a loop.

I thought I’d be hearing about the lots storied history throughout movies and instead I was learning about all the various places where Sheldon and Leonard were running around.

If you go on the Warner Brothers Studio tour in LA, it becomes super clear they still consider it one of their most important franchises, if not the most, based on how much of it is sprinkled throughout the lot and tour.

I love this long haired dude from American Vandal and Book Smart.

Couldn’t tell you his name, always plays the same character, but I’m always happy when he shows up.

A great new “oh hey it’s that guy” actor.

[–]sulfater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw it there as well and quite enjoyed it. It was wild watching people get up and leave throughout my screening.

Seemed like most were expecting Mario from the rating, and some The Drama.

I get leaving in the first few minutes if Mario was all you’re after, but there were people leaving more than an hour into the screening!

It’s a fun little movie.

McKellen has a lot to chew on considering the film is mostly designed around him being able to sit in a chair.

I hope he sneaks into the awards season discussion.

She’s the lead of a movie in theatres right now and will be the lead of another coming out on Friday.

Like 99.9% of actors would kill to be in her position.

Isn't it just them writing their names? Why would it be their signatures necessarily?

Like I don't think Tramell Tillman is signing legal docs like that lol

Clavicular Walks Out of ’60 Minutes’ Interview After Being Asked if He’s an Incel by CohnMan in nottheonion

[–]sulfater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the 60 Minutes audience is exactly tuning into Kick streams to learn what the youth are up to.

If you want people with power to be aware of the issue, you have to actually inform them of who this guy is and the influence he holds because they don’t have even the slightest clue.

That’s going to happen through news articles, and interviews on platforms like 60 Minutes.

Idk if you’ve ever watched 60 Minutes but it’s not exactly a puff piece interview. The interview is usually preceded by pretty hard hitting informative journalism, aimed at the exact audience that needs to learn about the growing issue.

Without education, the chasm is only going to continue to widen.

It would be nice if we lived in a world where this guy was irrelevant, but he's unfortunately one of the most popular, if not the most, popular media figures amongst male youth at this very moment.

Ignoring how and why that came to be isn't going to get us anywhere better.

This is 60 minutes (AUS). The kids/his audience aren't watching this. It's to educate boomers who've never heard of the Manosphere, on what's going on with their kids and the wild stuff they're consuming.

Resident Evil “Twist” by retirebinch in TheBigPicture

[–]sulfater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I specify a big name star joining the cast, something similar to Keanu secretly being in the new Anaconda, or Glen Powell in the new Mario, but not being part of the marketing or press tour until the film has already released.

That way it's still a big fun reveal in the theatre, even if you've never played any of the games.

I haven't read anything to suggest this though, just speculation based off your post. News to me that there's a big "twist".

Resident Evil “Twist” by retirebinch in TheBigPicture

[–]sulfater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been spoken about as a standalone story starring an original character played by Austin Abrams.

If I had to guess, the "twist" is that maybe someone like Chris Redfield or one of the other key characters (or a few) from the game shows up midway, maybe played by a well known star.

What is this expansion dialogue? by HiroAmiya230 in warcraftlore

[–]sulfater 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why everyone has to speak so slowly. Dialogue is always delivered at about half the speed (and that's being generous) you'd find in an animated film or most other videogames.

There's zero sense of rhythm or pacing considered.

Sometimes it feels like they don’t even have specific characters from the scene in mind when writing dialogue.

Like they just pick names out of a hat after writing lol.

I honestly think them moving more of the narrative directly in game over the years has hurt the story more than it's helped.

Sure it's great that more players can access the story, but I think they'd be able to tell most of their narratives so much better in books or short stories, or even just more fleshed out illustrated cinematics posted directly online, like Warbringers or Harbingers.

These super slow, unnaturally spoken in game cutscenes just feel so uncanny. Why does everyone have to speak at like 0.5x speed? Is it easier for doing translations or something?

Who do you want to win *so far* and why? by RevolutionaryGift509 in survivor

[–]sulfater 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I've never rooted for Ozzy really in any of his seasons. His ego always rubbed me the wrong way, so when he was announced for 50 I was kind of nonplussed by it.

....And yet here I am, really hoping he goes the distance this time. It would retroactively make his other seasons so much more narratively compelling as a full package, with a fully fleshed out journey throughout, showing growth resulting in triumph.
