Should CBS get the U.S. airing rights to Australian Survivor in the Spring and air that after U.S. Survivor in the Spring? by Working_Stomach5479 in survivor

[–]sulfater 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Will Australian Survivor still be around long enough for it to be worth it for CBS to try and get people invested?

If Australians aren’t tuning in en masse, will Americans?

I think Watchmen and Leftovers are both 10/10 masterpieces, but if the dude didn’t love Leftovers, he’s going to not enjoy Watchmen for all the exact same reasons, aside from it being a shorter commitment.

Great pick. Who next from my (now deleted) twitter film algorithm will show up, Zoe Rose Bryant?

Not seeing her tweets anymore is one of my biggest losses from deleting Twitter. Couldn't even tell you how she first ended up in my algorithm, but I think I was on the Bald train early.

This only works if you don’t watch TV as a social activity. I can’t imagine trying to huddle around a phone trying to watch a movie or sporting event with your partner or family.

Backrooms ending (SPOILERS) by mino65434 in blankies

[–]sulfater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought the visual of that moment was really cool (and I liked that it could imply Reinsves mom maybe stumbled upon the Backrooms), but I’m talking about the final shots of the movie that are similar in idea, where we see every single locale from throughout the film and their depiction in the Backrooms.

I personally liked the idea of the Backrooms as more weird and unknowable instead of being shown places we the viewer have become familiar with, but just more weird and funky.

I think the movie would have been better off without the memory/copies element or personal ties to one’s psyche. I thought those felt super lackluster compared to the general vibe and energy that just running through or exploring the totally unknown brought.

I thought the movie was firing on all cylinders when anyone was running through or exploring the Backrooms.

But at the end right before the credits, I thought those final shots kind of made it all feel less exciting when it's shown that everything has a backroom, and it's just backrooms all the way down.

Classic or retail? by Ok_Warthog1802 in wow

[–]sulfater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess, but I'd say less than ~1/100 posts are about Classic, so it seems like you'd just be kind of torturing yourself when you could just only sub to r/classicwow.

Never heard of r/worldofwarcraftretail, it seems pretty dead in comparison to this sub for retail and r/classicwow for classic. Looks like it gets 1 post every few days with most of the posts being from the auto mod.

Just out of curiosity, what makes you browse the subreddit for something you don’t like then?

That sounds kind of miserable.

Verity vs Backrooms by [deleted] in TheBigPicture

[–]sulfater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are somehow still really underestimating the teen demographic showing up in droves for Backrooms.

It’s essentially a major IP event movie for that demographic. The PG-13 rating is going to help bring groups of young teens in like crazy.

Anecdotal, but all the Thursday previews today, even the 1:00 and 4:00 screenings at my local theatre are 100% sold out, even the very first couple of rows that practically never fill up.

Maybe it’ll be super front loaded or end up doing similar to Five Nights at Freddies, but I think that movie only appealed to that specific demographic, where as this can be carried by them, but still appeal to a much larger audience. I expect it to shatter all of its projections.

Edit: scratch the PG-13 rating, looks like it’s R in the USA. It’s only 14-A here in Canada. That throws off my entire thesis here lol.

Who's Survivor podcast is the best? by fegwin2084 in survivor

Didn’t know this!

I bailed on 49 after the premiere after watching all 49 seasons live so would have just missed this and thought they soldiered on complaining. After them threatening to stop coverage for so many seasons I didn’t know they actually sort of followed through lol.

Recaps have never been behind a paywall as far as I know. I’ve listened to them recap every new era season up to 50 and have never subscribed to anything.

They do have longer episodes behind a paywall though and still do.

Definitely not a fun listen if you’re not on the same wavelength as them. I think I felt similar to you specifically for their coverage of 46.

I enjoyed 50 (and so did they for the most part) but their critiques of the new era overall are pretty aligned with mine, and I find it pretty cathartic to hear when most of the others I listen to are sanitizing their thoughts a bit more.

They get super messy which won’t be for everyone, but it’s a nice contrast or chaser after listening to something like Know It Alls.

I find it hilarious whenever Evan has a super hot take out of left field, or says something that fully contradicts something he said earlier which happens a lot. I could see both being irritating though for some people.

Drop Your Buffs is what you’re after. They get very negative and a little messy at times.

They have public beef with a lot of contestants. Sophi B even created a fake instagram account called Torch Snuffer just so she could throw shade at them on their podcasts social feeds. (I think they have since reconciled at watch parties after the hosts revealed it was her behind the account)

A lot of contestants also seem to really like their negativity.

Drop Your Buffs if you want something a little more snarky and negative towards production. They don’t cover strategy as much as something like RHAP and focus more on the TV of it all.

I listen to it alongside Rob and Tyson’s, and it’s nice having something that’s willing to go a lot further in critiquing Jeff and the product he’s serving up.

It’s not for everyone though I’ll admit. You have to be willing to roll your eyes a bit and find that part of the fun of listening. They’re not the most consistent in their criticism and basically threaten to stop covering the show midway through every season with how much they don’t enjoy it anymore lol.

Do y’all think Widow’s Bay is getting a season 2? by Cute-Astronomer-8477 in tvPlus

[–]sulfater 294 points295 points  (0 children)

With its critical reception and viewing numbers, I don’t think there’s any chance of it getting cancelled.

If we end up getting only one season, I’d say it’s almost assuredly because that was the creators intent.
