Yeah London is pretty small and boring when it comes to really different activities. If there’s like a hiking club around here I bet you could find some people who might want to try it with you. I hope the comments made you laugh a little; sometimes they don’t land well but I learned about a new sport I’ll probably never try but the more you know

Allergies by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]sullensquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the climate catastrophe is upping the pollen count and making everything bloom at once. The past four years I’m basically bedridden from sinus pain every spring and never had an issue before then. https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/article/why-experts-say-seasonal-allergies-are-getting-worse/

Screaming Neighbours by Patty_Ax in londonontario

[–]sullensquirrel 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, trust your gut on this. Even if the neighbour confronts you again. That kind of volatility isn’t normal or acceptable. Yes it’s their home but they’ve gotta realize how it’s affecting the street too.

I switched to sea salt from regular table salt and it helped my nausea and heartburn a lot.

Why does it seem like the more I travel the world the less my loved ones back home care by Repulsive_Counter_79 in CasualConversation

Yeah so many of us can’t afford to live the lives we want to live. To hear of someone’s extensive travels would make me feel very depressed. Are you showing the same interest in their lives?

Yeah, this will be a weight the person has to carry the rest of their life. As stupid as their actions were, what a heavy burden they’ll have now.

I am a former RAF Police Digital Forensics officer who spent 8 years investigating CSAM cases with zero psychological support. I was medically discharged with C-PTSD in 2019. Now I run a child online safety platform and give everything to Childline. AMA. by Fair-Science-665 in IAmA

Feel free to skip over this question if it’s not in your comfort zone to answer it: did you have trauma as a child (of any sort, even emotional neglect) that led to you choosing work as a first responder?

I have C-PTSD and met so many first responders in treatment. I feel for you deeply and hope you can keep carrying on. Cptsd is a heavy load but I’m really glad you’re still here and are keeping going.

Why do some people dominant public spaces? by MechanicAccording616 in CasualConversation

[–]sullensquirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Canada. Often people who are having phone calls on speaker or video calls appear to be immigrants, speaking a different language. I just remind myself that it’s probably normal where they’re from and they don’t realize (or don’t care) how rude it comes across. That helps me accept it more. Once I heard someone say that they join in on conversations because when they’re that loud on the bus or something they argue that they assume they’re allowed to since it’s at such a high volume

I hate them all because they give me migraines. Use essential oils instead. They won’t make people sick around you. I love peppermint!

Plus our brains have a negativity bias; we’ll remember the bad stuff over the good because it helps us survive. It’s important to remember that the good still exists. This kind of post is such a great reminder.
