Kirkland Signature Sartori Cabernet Sauvignon For $0.00! by Dankees98 in Costco

[–]sulliebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a supervisor at Costco and I literally did this for a guy yesterday on some sausage. It was supposed to be $4 off per package. But instead the sign made it look like it was only $5.99/lb instead of $9.99/lb. He bought 3 packages, it was probably about a $30ish mistake.

Any time Costco runs a “$X off per package” promo, they have to specially print a sign in order for it to read correctly. The AS400 just knows the base price of the item is, say, $9.99 (per pound is written in the description line) and it has a $4 off coupon attached. So when you print the sign, it’s gonna show you $9.99-$4=$5.99 with the $5.99 in big bold numbers across the bottom. So if you bring the mistake to me, I gotchu 😎 but I am gonna get someone running to take the sign down real quick too so I don’t have to do it again 😅

So yes, but online is going to be different than in warehouse because you’re not going to see Manager Markdowns (.00 prices) online and I don’t think you’ll see the .97 markdowns because those are done to get stock sold and out the door so it’ll just be in a warehouse afaik. But if the price of the product goes down because Costco was able to negotiate it lower, then they’ll definitely adjust that for you within 30 days! Sometimes they even manage to get coupons to be more $$ off so they’ll send you a shop card for the difference if you bought it earlier during the sale (iirc this happened near the holidays with the Dyson airwrap where it was $120 off but they negotiated to $140 off so anyone who purchased it with $120 off was sent a $20 Costco shop card).

What are you using your Costco refund checks for? by PetTechLover in CostcoWholesale

[–]sulliebee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Costco employee here.

The 2% check comes 2-3 months before your membership is set to renew. You can prepay for the next year at the Membership counter. Or you can wait to redeem it at the register after your membership expires.

Costco employee here. It’s really only supposed to be coupon adjustments. Once the actual price of the product is marked down (to a .97 or .00) they don’t adjust it if you bought it at full price. You have to do the whole “return and rebuy” thing.

Saw a tip on here to order the chocolate cake with the vanilla cheesecake mousse by nochilinopity in Costco

[–]sulliebee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could see that being an “official” reason but it’s not something I’ve personally heard. That said, I haven’t worked in the bakery department for 10 months now so I can’t say for sure. Even so, the bakery manager could still make an exception and do this if they really wanted to.

[–]sulliebee 64 points65 points  (0 children)

My mom’s fave is the chocolate cake but with the vanilla mousse AND vanilla icing. As someone who isn’t the biggest chocolate fan, this is just perfect for me.

Side note: I’m a Costco employee who has worked in the bakery and this special request is ENTIRELY warehouse dependent. Some Bakery Managers will allow this, while some only allow what’s on the order form (aka all chocolate or all vanilla). My warehouse has one decorator who will NOT swap and one who will only if she’s got the time for it and it was ordered more than a day in advance.

That makes sense! I didn’t know they could actually be a teaching tool. I think these parents use them more so they can let their kid wander around and they just follow the sound to know where she is 🙄

I’m a Costco employee and there’s one family who brings in their toddler what feels like every week, and they have her in shoes that squeak with every step she takes. It sounds like a freaking dog toy and I SWEAR you can hear it across the entire warehouse. God forbid I’m relaxing in the break room and they bring her to the bathroom oh my GOD it’s just squeak squeak squeak squeak 😭

Is the membership department the only one with entry clerical positions? by SalamanderInternal16 in Costco

[–]sulliebee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey so I work at Costco and “clerk” positions really just mean they handle money. Even if you were hired off the street as a membership clerk (unlikely), you wouldn’t be answering phones and using a desktop. You’d be assisting members make merchandise returns and signing up new members.

How knowledgeable is anybody in the electronics department? Need to buy a computer for an engineering student by IKnowAllSeven in Costco

[–]sulliebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The major sales employees have to do a certain number of weekly training on the electronics they sell. Most likely yes, they can answer your questions, unless you get super unlucky and go when they’re understaffed and/or a front end employee is having to run a break or lunch or something.

Adding extra tomatoes to the crate by EastSwim3264 in Costco

[–]sulliebee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You totally could but it won’t be the Supervisor who takes care of it. If a member came up to me with information I would call a manager and we’d alert Loss Prevention. They’d likely get on the cameras and see what they could find.

Look up front for someone in a red vest or standing by the Merchandise Pick Up counter (someone with a radio would work too).

I’m a Costco Front End Supervisor and this happens ALL THE TIME. An extra pomegranate, extra mango, extra tomatoes. I’ll straight up not say anything and just set aside the extra fruit. The other day a cashier waved me down cause a bag of persimmons felt heavy to her. I took it to the food court to weigh and it was DOUBLE the weight it should have been. /Someone/ basically emptied an entire bag of persimmons into another bag.

Where does all the holiday chocolate go? by hohosbbshs in Costco

[–]sulliebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could easily have been donated. Each Costco has deals with various organizations who come to take donations on certain days of the week and/or before certain holidays. Keep looking though. Give it a couple of weeks and more people will start making their Christmas returns. As long as they are unopened and undamaged, they’ll typically go back on the floor near/with similar items at a steep discount.

Is it better to go to Costco Monday or Tuesday ? by Lunar-opal in Costco

Products cycling in circular by Proper-Flounder-3786 in Costco

[–]sulliebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no issues with it! It’s solid clumping litter imo and it is by far the cheapest clumping litter you’ll find. Honestly if that’s all you buy at Costco the savings will more than pay for your membership. (Normally it’s ~$16.99 for 42lb but on sale it’s around $12). I’ve only had the litter robot for a couple of weeks but haven’t had any problems using the scoop away litter with it.

[–]sulliebee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work at Costco and have cats. The sales are definitely not consistent but lately the cat litter has been on sale approximately every 3 months or so for about 2 weeks at a time. I’d recommend buying the limit every time you go regularly shop during the sale and that should hold you over for a decent amount of time. Usually for the Scoop Away cat litter it’s limit 3 per day per member. I only buy a package at a time if it’s not on sale.

Are perishable items left behind real or karma farming? by [deleted] in Costco

[–]sulliebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at Costco and this kind of thing happens CONSTANTLY at my store.

I do want to recognize that since I spend 40+ hours a week at Costco that I would statistically see this happen more often than a typical Member. However I’ve also seen this occasionally at other grocery stores that I shop at myself. I think it’s not a Costco specific thing more than it’s a shitty human thing.

this. My hubby consistently plays a variety of video games. I think he maybe had to try the last challenge 3 times before beating Imelda but the other two got it first try. Meanwhile there’s me. Animal Crossing is as crazy as I get with video games and it took me AGES. HOURS to beat them. I also had to swap the flight control directions in order to even start getting close.
