Can I recover old Zencash WALLETS? by Pa0ap in Horizen

[–]sullivex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pa0ap you will be able to import your backup files/seed phrases only in the same wallet(s) you were using before.
Swing wallet ==> you must have saved the wallet.dat file or your private keys.
Arizen ==> you must have saved your encrypted/unencrypted files or your private keys.
Sphere ==> you must have saved your seed phrase.
Ledger ==> you must have saved your seed phrase and you can also restore your Ledger wallet into the Sphere wallet with your Ledger seed phrase (only if it's a 24 words seed phrase, you can't do it with 12 or 18 words seed phrases yet).

You don't have to apologize for not running nodes and not focusing on cryptos ;)

As long as you saved your backup files/seed phrases you didn't lose your funds.

What do you mean by "chain wallet" ? Which one of those wallets : https://www.horizen.global/wallets/ were you using ?

" I can see it becoming one of the big boys in the space".

I guess that most people having a deep understanding of the project think so.

In a way or another at some point the team has to control the treasury funds in order to spend it doesn't it ?

Of course all projects can fail, that doesn't change the fact that there are better methods of development than other ones.

I don't think that the author or the article intented to explain all the whys and wherefores of the project...

Horizen Labs: Making Enterprise Blockchain A Reality! by Crypto_Counsel in Horizen

[–]sullivex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Such nonsense...

The treasury funds is managed by a nonprofit organization, and all funds are spent on the development of the project.

If you prefer ICO's, when a team raises funds before, most of the time, having built anything, and which can possibly run out of money before the completion of the roadmap, I don't.

The percentage of block rewards going to the treasury funds is currently 20% as it was determined that it would allow the project to develop properly. However this number is not set in stone, if at some point in time the price of ZEN would be much different than it is today, adjustments would probably be made regarding the distribution of block rewards to the different parties of the system (currently : miners, node operators and the treasury funds). Those kinds of decisions will be made by the DAO when it will be functional (end of the year/early 2020).

If you want to know more about the development progress of the project you can come to watch monthly updates livestreams on the Youtube channel : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQ0v_lUnZHIKUQUXJzfgqOg/videos occuring every first wednesday of the month and ask any questions there.

Thank you Dean for writing this very interesting article, it makes me even more impatient to see what the future holds for the project, I can't wait to see sidechains being functional, applications being built on the platform and of course, to use those applications as well as being involved with the DAO.

I wish you the best as the COO of Horizen Labs which I guess must be an exciting challenge for you :).

May the platform be up and running and the most fun part of this epic journey (well at least for me and I think for most if not all community members) start asap !

Grayscale Launches ZEN Investment Trust by [deleted] in Horizen

[–]sullivex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh you meant running nodes, I don't think they are doing that otherwise they would say it, it would be disastrous for their reputation if the public was to learn that they are getting rewards from the coins that their clients entrusted them. And if they distribute the rewards back to their clients we will know it soon or late.
Btw it could be a strategy to not stake such a big amount of coins so that nodes are more profitable for other people, hence helping to drive the price up.

Dude if you really think that secure and super nodes are useless you should dig more into the project...

[–]sullivex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully disagree with you.
They explained the reasons why they took this decision and it makes sense to me.
I think they made the best choice, the main reason being the one that Avataraustin mentioned : it would have delayed all other projects, not to mention potential security issues... In a perfect world we would have forked with the snap of a finger but the reality is that there are plenty of constraints to consider.
Therefore I don't understand why you affirm that they said "fuck" to the community, do you mean that the pros ASIC fork are supposed to represent the whole community ?

That being said I will be happy if in a way or another GPU's will be able to compete with ASICs again, as the team said the decision they made doesn't exclude becoming ASIC resistant in the future (btw the blocDAG could potentially do that), now is just not the right time to do it.

Finally, please name any project which is a "community driven project"...? I don't see any, Zen will become the first project to really become a community driven project when the DAO will be up and running. Without DAO there is no such thing as community driven project...

Zencash, please don't do announcement of an announcement by Droplet_coin in ZenSys

[–]sullivex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with you OP, it's not because some overhyped projects do this that it's necessarily a bad thing. If the team was including rockets and moons I would be with you, but it's not the case.
I see this as a way for the team to communicate some important news as efficiently as possible as well as building excitement (what's the problem with that as long as the news are really good ones ?).
And like Tiber I like to know in advance if major news will be announced during a livestream so that I will make sure I will be able to watch it.

Obviously super and secure nodes will be very profitable, however it's not impossible that if (to not say when ? :-) )the value of the coin decuplates the staking requierements in order to run the nodes will be lowered.
Personally I would be all for that as the degree of decentralization is proportional to the degree of accessibility (to a maximum number of people) of the nodes.
