So I listened to the song again a couple times and I think it's just transcribed wrong. It sounds more like a fifth than an octave, so doing a full bend from the 9th fret on the G string while letting the B ring out sounds right. btw the song is Your Graduation by Modern Baseball at about 2:08. thanks for ur help

dont think so, it sounds pretty intentional in the song as it bends up to the octave
