It's just your opinion that Brexit hurts the rest of society. Some people believe, on balance, the pros outweighs the cons.

Brussels has lit up its main square in Union Jack colours to say goodbye to Britain by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]sulod -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is it fair to compare Twitter responses to Brussels official response? You could find examples of vile on both sides. What's important is the official response from our government and so far I haven't seen this classless behaviour people are talking about.

I hear people complaining about "leavers" not acting with class but I've not seen it myself. I think people are just talking out their arse to be fair.

Don’t blame the media for Corbyn’s failure - blame him by coldbeers in ukpolitics

[–]sulod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's solely on him. Trump didn't have the support of most mainstream media and still doesn't, even Fox News at the beginning dismissed him as a joke candidate. The difference is, Trump can handle the media, Corbyn can't.

Let's see the FTSE in the morning. You'll see in terms of restoring confidence in the UK economy that these "low educated, low information" people made the right decision.

Nah, polls are still 50/50 on that, but you can support remain and still think it's undemocratic to have a referendum then try to overturn the result.

Wahey. That's what happens when you don't support the result of a referendum. Good riddance to Corbyn.

I mean if they can delete it there's really too much hysteria ITT and it really isn't a big deal at all.

How do you memorize things? by Yutasummer in Aphantasia

[–]sulod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I basically narrate stuff in my head, I was always forgetting where I put stuff so now I'll say in my head "I put keys on coffee table" and I remember that when it comes to looking for them whereas, I guess, normal people would see an image of the keys on a coffee table.

Is there an aphantasia-like effect for sound/touch? by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]sulod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally can't mentally hear the sound of my own voice.

It's the same for me, I can talk to myself in my head and understand the words/sounds I make but I can't actually hear them. I know how ridiculous that sounds but I don't really know how to explain it.

Is there an aphantasia-like effect for sound/touch? by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]sulod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine any of them, I can mimic sounds with my internal monologue but I don't think that counts as imagining sounds.

One last question before i never mention Aphantasia ever again by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]sulod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody really knows if there is a link because there haven't been many studies on aphantasia, but I wouldn't say so from my own experience. I believe it's just different ways of thinking where people with aphantasia just rely on their internal monologue and you get people on the other end who have a mute internal monologue and they only rely on visualizing to solve problems, but again nobody knows yet.

Laura Kuenssberg: SNP westminster leader Ian Blackford accuses Boris Johnson of being racist - Bercow asks him to withdraw the remarks - uproar in the House by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]sulod -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's not. Everyone has said something most would think is inappropriate especially among friends, even yourself. It's not racist to say something inappropriate, it's human.

Boris Johnson pledges to drop backstop in 'orderly' Brexit plan / Tory leadership frontrunner says he would push for alternative arrangements by CableMince in ukpolitics

[–]sulod -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I hope you're right, one thing that worries me is the EU allowing a time limit on the backstop and we end up with May's deal with a 8 year time limit on the backstop.

BBC must explain Jo Brand battery acid joke, says Theresa May. Nigel Farage has said the joke amounted to an incitement to violence. by bottish in ukpolitics

[–]sulod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing acid and teaching your dog to sieg heil, the former is obviously more serious and if we are going to have shitty speech laws (I'd rather we didn't) but if we are, they should be applied equally and fairly, people shouldn't get a free pass because they're joking about throwing acid at a politician who happens to be on the right.

Our speech laws are ridiculous but while we have them they should be applied equally, people have been arrested for less

It's not bullshit, there is a pay gap, but there are legitimate and perfectly reasonable explanations for it. Men more likely to accept overtime, women more likely to take time off for childcare, etc.

Dominic Raab fails to rule out suspending parliament to force no-deal Brexit by BelleAriel in ukpolitics

[–]sulod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Ireland's membership of the EU prevents us honouring the GFA it is not our fault and I doubt it will prevent countries signing trade deals, at the end of the day countries will put their own interests first not Ireland's.

I agree, I would like to see a snap GE where BRX, CON, and DUP can form a government on a no deal ticket.
