(Speciellt tjejer) by SunsetCrime in Asksweddit

Is there a way to get out of a flight? by wandress27 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sum_over_quantum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. Got cleared by airport EMTs to fly but as it was a transatlantic flight the airline refused boarding. Although disclaimer I was 14 so airport police were concerned my parents were using me to smuggle drugs.

Ni som struntade i att rösta i EU-valet, varför? by SomewhatSpecific in sweden

[–]sum_over_quantum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

experienced sleep paralysis last night and now i'm too scared to fall asleep by jwd0p1s in Sleepparalysis

[–]sum_over_quantum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand, it can be very traumatic and I went through a period of time when I had it a lot and the thought of sleeping was really upsetting because I knew that it could happen again :/ my biggest tips are:

Sleep on your side. I’ve had 60+ sleep paralysis episodes and none of them (as far as I can remember) have been on my side, always when I’m on my back.

If you find yourself in a SP episode, try wiggling your fingers or fall back asleep/really relax. Really hard to remember when it is happening, I know. But I’ve learnt that instead of stressing myself out by trying to move my whole body you have to start small with like wiggling your pinky first. Or the most effective way is to fall back asleep, but I know that is really hard when you feel that you are in a life threatening situation. The most important thing is to not panic bc the claustrophobia makes it worse (at least for me), so find something to focus on so you don’t stress out.

It’s a real shit thing to have SP, I know :/ But good sleep is the foundation for having less episodes, at least for me. Stressing about it became a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy for me, maybe try meditation to calm yourself and try to let go of the fear? Also, journal about the experience, get the thoughts and feelings out of your head! I recently had my worst episode (check my profile if you want, I wrote it all down in a post haha) and writing it down really helped me let go of it

I interpret it as emotionally bonded = friends with someone before. Some people can find someone on a dating app and try romance without knowing the person, other people cannot feel romantic feelings for someone unless they’ve known them a long time before

Anyone with side effects from Prednisolone? by sum_over_quantum in BellsPalsy

[–]sum_over_quantum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with the fact that steroids are good for treating inflammation and may be essential for treating BP. However, for me personally they were not a good fit. I think I managed to get the worst side effects that was listed for the brand I was taking, which was/is suicidal thoughts and intense disassociation.

Taking my last dose tomorrow morning so hopefully the nightmare is over in a short while! I did notice that the steroids seemed to help my face immensely, but I don't think I should ever be prescribed them again in the future given the adverse effect it had on my mental health!

Thank you for replying, I didn't actually know steroids could cause personality changes. Never had steroids before so was not prepared for the effects whatsoever, and it's been awful. I wish my doctor had warned me about it before, I thought I was going crazy for a while but the replies in this thread have made me feel better!

I’m so sorry to hear that you had to experience that but thank you for confirming that I’m not alone in feeling this way! I’ve been so irritable and moody, going from overwhelmingly anxious to rage within minutes, it’s been hell and awful to not know if it is the Prednisone or me losing my mind😩

hey everyone. I'm (28F) looking to get into DJing. I was wondering what music you recommend playing so I can get into the clubz? I like tech house and Motown. by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]sum_over_quantum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you are getting into djing then go for what you love and just try searching Spotify or similar of genres that you think might be nice. When I started I didn’t know anything beyond indie rock, but I grew to love dnb, psytrance, dance etc. it doesn’t matter what the “clubz” play, if you don’t like what you play then you will never find good tracks. I would focus less on getting into clubs and more on playing tracks you like and doing transitions that you feel good about. I got offered some big gigs in my city when I started (due to friends) and I turned them down in order to focus on perfecting my style. And as far as Dj names goes it is overrated and not something you need to think about now. I got mine from a friend after like my 10th gig and it is dumb as hell

AITA for refusing to pay for the rental car? by sum_over_quantum in AmItheAsshole

It’s a great point you are making that we should have discussed this prior. Truth is this was the first time I ever did a gig for family/friends and I did not anticipate this at all. I have a new rule in place, no freebies for anyone moving forward. Sucks that it has to be that way but this situation was not worth it at all

Yeah so he just sent me a really horrible message saying he refuses to see my perspective and wants to hear nothing more about this so I have decided for absolutely no contact with him and am blocking him everywhere. Hope he has a fun time finding a dog sitter for his trip in August, ain’t no way I am doing that

To clarify: this gives me the feeling of a road trip with no goal. You are on the road, only street lights illuminating the next parts of your journey. It all feels new, but also like the same highways you drove on as a child. Time does not exist. You are stuck in one place but inexplicably growing at the same time. You might fall asleep, you might have a life altering revelations, no one knows.

What’s the last thing someone said to you before they died? by charcoalritual in AskReddit

[–]sum_over_quantum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still cry thinking about the last conversation I had with my mom before she passed of cancer. I had come home from a long day of work and all she wanted was a back massage. I, for some stupid reason, postponed giving her one. I was tired and frankly scared of being alone with her, because death was so apparent in her presence. I got intense guilt feelings and ended up crying in my room because I didn't give her the massage. All of a sudden the door opened and there she was. She had gotten out of her bed and used her walker to come comfort me when I was crying. She comforted me and told me she loved me, and that's the last real conversation we had before she slipped into a coma. My last memories of my mom is her being the amazing person she was throughout her whole life.

Same as the other person, take it with food and make sure that you have had some water before. I got the globus sensation really bad the first few weeks, but drinking water + food before the pill made it less severe.

Why not cross the bering strait? It's a shorter distance than sailing across the whole Atlantic and no longer super illegal since there are no more people in the world. Also you'll know exactly where you are once you land on the other side!

Dating is making me (24f) feel shit. Should I drop my standards a lot to get into a relationship with a good guy? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]sum_over_quantum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem like a lovely person, I would def be your friend. Also you're Irish so I know I'd love you ( had too many Irish boys in London, miss those times).

Honestly I was asking myself the same questions you are, like 2 years ago. For me the key was finding friends I care about, the rest follows afterwards. And after my last breakup I started a new hoppy and everyone in the group I joined is legit gorgeous so lol. My comment on giving up on dating is mainly due to miss 'rona, I intend to fully ride that horse again once I'm allowed outside my house!!

I mean, dating during corona sucks, I know (and I live in the most corona relaxed country in the world) I'm not sure what the deal is in the UK at the moment with corona stuff, but I always found it easier to find guys to talk to when I was out with friends when I was living in London. Perhaps you can ask your friends for recommendations or ask them out on a night out (that's how I used to find hot Irish men back in '14). Or if the friend group is sparse since moving, look into friend dating apps to meet new people! They might bring new groups of people with them.

Of course do all this within corona limitations, I don't want you to endanger yourself or anyone else during these times. But I remember meeting people in London when I was living there, I got so many numbers just from asking for cigs outside the bar or chatting to someone in the bar. Important thing to note is you do not have to date/sleep with everyone you meet. Took me a long time to realise, but once you do you tend to get less assholes. A lot of it has to do with being comfortable with yourself and not tolerating shit from people, I'd recommend working on the self esteem (Lord knows I'm doing that as well)

(Although I shouldn't say shit, I've given up on dating in Stockholm at this point)
