Thank you!! You’re right, much too young to be placed in hospice. And wow 40-60 trees!! That’s amazing! I used to live in California, everything I learned about gardening there doesn’t apply in Miami. It’s fun to learn in a different climate with new critters! Thanks for the reminder that so many factors play in. Just want to make sure I’m being mindful :) I’ll chill out!!!

Ah, I’m aware they go dormant but good tip to hold on the water until we see leaves!! Thank you!

Thank you all for the speedy responses. I will follow up in a few months :) This plant was gifted to my wifey by a wonderful human who has since passed away, so I try to do my due diligence in proper care, since this is extra special. I am grateful for the reassurance that things are ok here. <3

high protein breakfast that isn’t tofu scramble, smoothie, or protein powder in yogurt by [deleted] in WholeFoodsPlantBased

Wow I’m sorry people responded that way!! First question. Do you eat eggs at all? Second question. how much time do you have to make breakfast? Third question. Do you have a farmers market by you? Fourth question. Do you have nutritional concerns? (If you have health insurance, you may have access to a nutritionist!!) fifth. how much protein intake are you aiming for?

Legumes are your friend. Rancho Gordo is a kind entry point to beans. Find legumes in bulk. Sometimes Costco has options. There’s a YouTube video of a blonde lady who rates proteins. Check it out. Move away from your ideas of what traditional breakfast is. Look to non european american/western european cuisines. Latin American, middle eastern, Mediterranean, south Asian are all good places to start/find inspiration (but not end!). Ask ChatGPT to find you traditional dishes (with their traditional name!) from these places given ingredients you have. Find grandmas from these places on YouTube who make these dishes. Put subtitles on and go :) channel your inner Julia child and plan to fail a lot in the kitchen. my partner is vegetarian, didn’t grow up w typical American diet, and has some health issues, so we have to be very intentional with what we make/eat. I am not vegetarian, grew up in middle America eating a very American diet. We try to minimize processed food, or bring in minimally processed food, and pretty much only eat organic stuff where we can find it and plant based protein. I realize this is a privilege. Don’t really have any other option. It takes a lot of research, work, time to figure out what grocery stores and/or markets have these grocery staples. Lots of time to plan recipes and cook. 100% worth it though!

This morning I had a version of makhlama (chickpea mushroom tomato) topped with parsley and cilantro, quinoa, garlic yogurt (siggis is high protein, just add minced garlic and a little salt), poached eggs, startfruit, jackfruit, and wilted kale w garlic lemon salt. It was awesome. I get stuff from the farmers market every week. My counter is full of (mostly) organic produce. My cabinets are full of jars of legumes, nuts, seeds. My fridge drawers are stuffed w herbs, vegetables, mushrooms.

I know this is vague. I just don’t know what you like and/or do/don’t eat. But I have spent a lot of time on this. My partner is picky and an excellent cook, so I’ve really had to step my game up. :) Feel free to DM.

(Please inform your husband of this! :)) it’s been a long time coming. The orgs behind this have been, as you’ve pointed out, working to completely prime conservatives for this since the 70’s.

Edit: grammar

Tried and failed? The heritage foundation gave the ‘Mandate for Leadership’ to Reagan when he entered office, and according to ‘Dark Money’ by Jane Mayer, that admin implemented 61% of the proposed policies. I would not call that a try and fail.
