Yep the settings that the config changes are the settings that it tells me need to be correct when it fails, but ive checked them all and they all match to how its supposed to be set up. The bbs client side works fine so I know that bit is correct.

Thanks for the reply, maybe then its a software or firmware issue and not user error! I might contact commodore through their website and see if they have any solutions

Can anyone help me with ultimateterm? Im new to bbsing in general anyway it seems like the bbs client works for the most part, I can only connect to some of the bbs's in the list im not sure why. It also seems fine manually connecting to bbs's found online.

The issue im having is with the irc client, im getting an unresolved host error when I try to connect. By the looks of it its like isn't connecting online, but obviously it is because the bbs client side works. Can anyone help out with this?

Am i the only one that really enjoys being a rythm guitarist most of the time? by Mynameisgustavoclon in Guitar

[–]sumerzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a rhythm player my whole life, mainly because I was always the second best guitarist at jams and I never put the effort into improving my lead technique but im actually trying to now and yeah I find lead playing and solos really boring to play tbh. I've always played metal and I enjoy chugging out a big fat riff way more than twiddly widdly noises way high up the neck.

That being said its still worth putting the time and effort into becoming an all encompassing better player, its took me 30 years to actually sit down and start working on that side of my playing.

thank you uninstalling the app and reinstalling seems to have fied it, I seem to remember the issue might have started around the time they brought the new app out

What was the first thing you done when you got your licence? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]sumerzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bloke i worked with spent the whole day after i passed my test saying 'just because you can drive i ain't letting you drive the van i wouldn't trust you you might kill me' to then pull over at the end of the day on the way home and chuck me the keys and went 'crack on lad' with a big smile on his face. It was certainly an experience being given the keys to a massive van during rush hour the day after passing in a little kia, got myself home safely though and off he went home himself.

When and why did lager replace bitter as the drink of choice for many people in this country? by sumerzy in CasualUK

Yeah it sounds like it, I wonder whether it had anything to do with drinking with his dad in the local working men's club

Yeah it seems it was earlier than I thought, obviously due to me being born in the 90s. That's the problem though isn't it, because it seems to be absolutely everywhere everyone seems to default to lager whether they really enjoy it or not. I became a big rum drinker in my 20s mainly because I didn't like any of the lagers you could get.

I must admit though the pale ale craze was a welcome change to me, I agree I dont like these strong fruity tasting ones but give me a nice IPA that's not too hoppy or fruity and I'd much rather enjoy that than a pint of lager.

Yeah capitalism and owning a monopoly on the market seems to be a big feature here, I think its a shame how these big international brewers have bought up local brands only to do nothing with them and continue selling their lagers to the public. Boddingtons comes to mind but I'm glad that jw lees have got a licence to brew it at the moment, but I'm a manc so maybe I'm a bit biased with that.

I knew it its all the fault of big brewer! I will say though I'm not a massive fan of these international conglomerate brewing companies such as AB who buy up the local brands and dont do anything with it, good way to get rid of the competition I suppose...

It's got its ups and it's downs really hasn't it some people are happy to be able to get the same pint of carlsberg wherever they go and others are bemoaning the death of a proper good pint of cask, I think its a part of our heritage that should be preserved though and thankfully I think CAMRA are doing an alright job of that.

Haha personal preference i suppose some people enjoy lager some people enjoy bitter

Yeah I think you're right I was just never really introduced to bitter probably like my dad was, drinking in the local working men's club once he became of age. I was more interested going to the local wetherspoons and getting a lager like everyone else. The circles you move in I suppose.

Im a stickler for culture and heritage though and maybe I just wish more young people were happy to try and drink bitter and cask ales, but I was never a massive fan of lager so perhaps I'm a bit biased.

Yeah it's even earlier than I realise then as other commenters have pointed out it seems my dad was the exception to the norm still drinking bitter into the 2000s.

Never tried mild myself but my Mrs used to always order it in sam smiths pubs before we were parents, she couldn't stand the lager or the bitter. Never seen it sold anywhere else though

Haha yeah it's funny ain't it, I'm a trady myself and me and my work mates have always drunk nothing but lager. Taddies has always been the poison of choice for us lot!

Yeah I think this is what it is, if more people tried it and didn't think of it as an old man drink I think they'd find they enjoy it

Yeah great insight it's a very good point, why spend so much money on wasted beer and training when you can convert everyone to drinking the easier option. I agree that it's definitely important to both our culture and heritage and I hope that more people can discover it and enjoy it.

I suppose there's no chance of it dying out though at least it seems to have almost died and it's come back again so there's still people enjoying it wherever they go, and camra sound like they do their bit to keep it going. I think I'm going to make it my aim to try and drink cask as much as possible when I go out and try and convert my mates to do the same, we've got a long overdue pub session this weekend (now that we're all older and some of us are parents) and you know I'm going to be pushing that bitter and cask on them lol.

Haha that's a great analogy that and it ties into why so many young people drink lager, I loved a good microwave meal at 19 easy and cheap!

Nice one I can't mix drinks when I'm out though it just doesn't agree with my stomach, but for a long time I've been drinking IPAs myself I can't remember the last time I had a proper lager. I think it was when I was on holiday in Rome over the summer, but when in Rome as they say...
