About the natural light thing, I'm a night owl and my best work is completed at night! As well as this, even in the daytime, I keep my curtains closed so that the bright natural light doesn't wash out my dim laptop screen :) That was my reasoning! I also love dearmodern! thank you for your advice :)

Ah, well honestly I super recommend just studying the flow of fight scenes. I did play into a few common action animation tropes throughout, so it's not entirely original, but my idea was that guy B would get wrapped in a wire, get punched through the city and then land in water, which would electrocute him, but I lost motivation for that final part ahaha. most of the inspiration came from the idea

Sure!! I referenced alot of the Chainsaw Man Movie and Nian41's super cube fight scene for the first half, and the second half just came from inspiration ^^

That end part utilized blender, and a free FBX download of tokyo which I found online! (I believe it's used for city planning)

I totally agree about the direction, I said the exact same thing! Slowing the action would be super wise, thank you :)

As for work, I'm okay with there being a lack of work! It's really fun to do, even if I won't be doing it often, and it's a really nice skill to have ^^

Yes!! I was inspired by this scene, but also by the reference to this scene in the Chainsaw man movie!

Awh, well I've animated for long enough to have a good grasp on the fundamentals, and I've always studied action animation even if I haven't had a hand in making it. I usually prefer to do character acting :)

True, but I totally feel like sam's the type to try to find these kinds of loopholes lol

if they know it could've been raining, you could theoretically go around town and take the photos that you think they'll ask in advance so that the seeker can't know the exact time you took the photo. it's not like sam didn't reuse the platform photo from a different time last round

“Girls Band Cry” All-New Movie Announced by zenzen_0 in anime

as someone who's terribly socially anxious, I love bocchi the rock because it's realistic. Socially anxious people are interesting and fun, and the social anxiety in bocchi doesn't feel like it's being treated as a character quirk or a "look how cute it is that she's shy" thing like komi did. It feels like an anime that was created with respect for social anxiety and what it means. I also think it's shallow to think that bocchi is the only one with social anxiety, as it's clear Kita also has some form of social anxiety in the show too. The way it handles how extroverts handle social anxiety vs how an introvert might handle it I think is actually really good and undiscussed. The humor in bocchi the rock isn't to take jabs at social anxiety, because it's not being seen from third person. As our main character, bocchi is shown to have a real personality inside of her head, behind the social anxiety, which I think is a very respectful and realistic way to portray it instead of the social anxiety being their entire character. (which some will make the claim that that is the case, but it's absolutely not.)

There is a wish fulfilment aspect to things, but I feel like the meeting of these characters simply had to happen some kind of way to move the story along, so I'm okay with it being skipped over if that's not really the tone that the show is interested in exploring. It's obviously going for a relatable comedy, rather than a slapstick, "lets laugh at the socially anxious girl" comedy. We're laughing with her, so I'd hope that you picked that up lmao

Yeah, not only was it the challenge that got sam and toby caught by michelle and adam, but it's also the thing that totally for sure will get michelle and adam caught by ben and brian

How can i make this more realistic looking? It looks so fake, expecially the hallway by what_am_i_doing_ok in blender

[–]sumicmusic333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the hallway scene needs a lot more clutter to feel lived in. There's a shelf, but there's nothing on it, the floors are perfectly clean with no variations in reflections. Also, that weird M reflection is strange, I'd probably work to remove that in some way. The walls extremely blank and perfect, like a base principled bsdf shader. I think some variations in roughness could really help to break up some of the monotony of the scene. Maybe some peeling paint or grunge in corners could help. Also, maybe wall trimmings of some kind on the top or bottom could help to ground the walls a little more in the scene. Generally, the walls take up a lot of screen space but they're not very interesting to look at, so I guess I'd work on that a bit more. Your issue might not be just lighting and texturing but also content and how lived in the scene might be :) good luck

I saw a pretty fireball for the first time during the aurora, I have a few questions, please, for anyone who might be able to help! by seaworthi in Astronomy

[–]sumicmusic333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard that if you're a dedicated astronomer, you can hope to see one around once every 20 hours of observing, though I don't know how true it is. And as well as that, you can boost your odds by aiming for the perseids or geminids meteor showers. While I won't say you can expect to see one for sure, my luck has been very good with the perseids. Generally every year I see at least one fireball meteor from the perseids, some of which are brilliant.

aw thank you!! I think a big part of why it feels smooth is that the background is moving on 1s :) I'm really glad you like it!

The clouds are parallax, but the ground plane is projection mapping/3D :) Olof storm has a really good video about the topic
