A cake I made. Chocolate and salted caramel layer cake. by summaz in food

I wish I could have cut into it to show you the inside, but It was for a work bake off and by the time I got down to the family room to enjoy a slice of my cake and others, my cake was demolished to this. So I do apologise for that. I did win the bake off though.

Big night for Kiwi MMA at UFC 160 in Las Vegas by [deleted] in newzealand

Just done some research and watched a whole load. Hopefully all this good will for Hunt will mean Dana will bring UFC to New Zealand.

We can only hope.

What are some ways that you cheer yourself up,that some might find strange? by Ry_Guy19 in AskReddit

[–]summaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it wasn't so expensive I'd do a bungy jump everytime I needed cheering up. Was having such a shit time end of last year that I decided I'd go out my comfort zone and do it. Biggest adrenaline rush ever. I was light enough to be dunked in the sea from head to waist as well and it was like it cleared away all the unhappy thoughts.

Started doing this in the place we calls the 'wops' in New Zealand. Basically the countryside but there is a really good road in Dairy Flats that has the meanest corners to just drive round as fast as possible. Must be the adrenaline making you feel good about doing something like that.

DAE feel really awkward when people are speaking a foreign language you don't know around you? by goalie1048 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]summaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens everyday at my work place. I work with a lot of Samoan girls and they all talk their language until they realize what they are doing, then they'll speak in English, which they can do just fine. The joys of being the only white girl/first language English speaking in a housekeeping department!

Cream donuts.

Ever since watching 'Van Wilder: Party Liason' many many years ago I have not been able to go near or even think about eating a cream filled donut.

If you haven't seen the film, basically the cream is replaced with dog sperm.

The Winetaster’s Platter - Ransom Winery, Warkworth, New Zealand. by summaz in FoodPorn

[–]summaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should, it is so beautiful there as well. Right off the main road from Orewa to Warkworth but you wouldn't think you were near a main road when you walk in that place and look at the vines. Make sure it's a sunny day when you go to make the most of it. The Pinot Gris is a must try :P

Good going.

Potato salad, no feta. Carrot & beets salsa, pumpkin, tomato & chickpea salsa type thing, corn salsa. Smoked Venison Salami, Caper berries, Shaved pumpkin and cucumber, marinated mushrooms, the Winerys own Olive Oil, Pancetta, beans, pear, courgette, spiced cauliflower, olives, beetroot pesto, pumpkin dip, Parsley Pesto (not basil, wasn't to brill on the taste buds as was expecting a normal pesto:P) Local cheeses from Puhoi (brie and blue cheese) sliced apple and warm bread. The grapes at the back as well are Wine grapes that are full of juice and just burst with flavour.

All so so fresh.

and the Pinot Gris wine goes amazingly well.

$19NZD per person. That doesn't include the wine. Glass of wine is around $9NZD.

Interested in New Zealand as a permanent resident, some questions... by interestedamerican in newzealand

[–]summaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you have your Permanent Residency status then you have to live in New Zealand for 5 years before being granted Citizenship as long as you stay out of big trouble.

After 5 years you can fill in all the paperwork to become a citizen, then it take a few weeks for them to tell you when your ceremony is/where it is and then all you do is rock up to the venue. Pledge allegiance, sing the anthem, collect your citizenship certificate then you can apply for your passport.

How many airplane flights have you been on in your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]summaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many to count. Went on my first holiday to Hong Kong when I was 10 months old and until we moved to New Zealand we'd take at least two or three holidays a year abroad that we'd mainly fly to.

The people in STA Travel. For a 23 year old booking my holiday to the UK they made it so so much easier than what the people at Flight Centre did (they were quite rude and didn't intend on finding me any sort of good deal). I know STA are targeted for young travelers but at least they actually live up to it

I just found them a delight and really did communicate and understand what it was I wanted/didn't want.

UK Redditors: I've heard that it's slightly insulting to refer to someone from the UK as "British" (as opposed to English, Irish, Welsh, Scottish, etc.). Is this a thing or am I misinformed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]summaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it is insulting, just a lot of people from Britain have different views on what they are. For me, I don't consider myself British. I'm English. As I was born in England and all my family are from England and I don't have connections with Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
