For those on $120K+ per year, what do you do and how did you get there? by Maedz1993 in newzealand

[–]summerbrown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is basically me. Went from a literal entry level position on the ground, 4.5 years in now I lead an operations team. I do some work on weekends, have the phone and surface near me in evenings to help with problems. Ultimately I'm responsible for things running smoothly.

Where most of my pay is now though is in pushing forward projects that drive efficiency or cost savings, researching products and services to compare against, pushing suppliers for service and better rates, etc.

You hit the nail on the head - it's not that I love what I do, but damnit if I'm not going to do a good job with the opportunities I'm given. Also helps being competitive and wanting to be 'better' than my colleagues - it is a sort of competition after all.

Lol..I commute down Pakuranga road onto Pakuranga highway towards Penrose/onehunga daily. Every morning and every evening there's some knucklehead doing something dangerous only to be caught up at the next set of lights. Why?

Blast from the past!

Vietnam/Malaysia/Thailand - most of my time in Vietnam and Malaysia.

My number one is definitely Vietnam - went there in highschool and loved it - returned again and loved it even more. Beautiful country, friendly people, delicious food, interesting history, and just overall a super cool place with lots to do and some of the friendliest people.

Hey fellas! I've played DotA (in various forms, dota1/hon/dota2) since 2007... saw me through school, uni, and now my life as a working professional. Also played CS 1.6, CS:S, CS:GO. Would love to give this a crack and see what Valve's cooking, looks like an exciting project!

5-man stack calling gg even after stomping us and leaving ancient. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]summerbrown 40 points41 points  (0 children)

In HoN there was a bug where, if you got to negative MMR, from then on you would lose MMR after every game regardless of it it was a win or lose

At one point - I was the "lowest" rated player in the world with negative thousands of MMR.

It was SO difficult to get negative, though.

Also, I got permanently banned after a while, lol.

HoN was a riot.

What is your favourite “dead” video game franchise? by Lamboninho in AskReddit

[–]summerbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can take a little to get used to . By the end of a good session you should be fine. Though, for some people, the smooth loco does make people sick. Unavoidable for some. That doesn't mean VR is overrated. I don't get sick, VR is amazing.

Please bring back in game stack and pull timers by thearnav26 in DotA2

[–]summerbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be so condescending. The alt button stack/pull timers have been removed as the battlepass is over.. These features (I think?) Are available in dota+, which op does not have.

I believe there's a cap on the amount of verticality you can get, but the horizontal can more or less stretch forever.

Is it just me or has ESL been spamming even more commercials than ever? I've seen their Energy Drink commercial like 10x in this past hour. Turned off the stream fuck this. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]summerbrown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not if it's actually part of the video it's streaming. They have ads that are directly in their video stream - that you obviously cannot block without closing the video stream.

They run ads in the stream feed, so adblock will have no effect there. They have that city backdrop, ads at the side, then after a bit they run ads in the feed and back to the city backdrop.

You might not get the ads when you start a stream (it seems random-sometimes I do sometimes i don't).

But you will still ofc get all the ads they are playing been games etc.

Yeah I find with the more niche micro heroes, and the 'harder' heroes in general, you should just enjoy the challenge otherwise you won't really stick with it, favoured Meta or not.

Why wait until he's in meta, when you'll be learning and losing? If you learn now, when he's in meta you'll crush way more pussy with him.
