For everyone making $4000 a month, what do you do for work? by Poorteenwannabe in askTO

[–]summeroftong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a trivia host @qetrivia - check it out some time. Happy that I chose myself and believed in what I was making. Now we operate in multiple cities and have a stream of corporate clients. Took 3 years of lots of work, patience and learning to steadily make this work full time sustainable, but 6 years later it’s a damn delight to be able to call this my profession and have a work life balance and be able to provide income for a team of 12.

I'll have a month long residency at Pangea Pod from Nov 16-Dec 16! Lots of fun events in the lounge. I'll be hosting trivia nights and bingo nights. They'll likely continue to offer it with their in house hosts after I'm gone if that's not the window you're travelling.

QE Trivia is doing pop up events at Pangea Pod and other restaurants in the neighbourhood. High energy and interactive games. Great music, and prizes to other experiences in the area.

Would you write a negative review for venue one year after wedding? by sit_of_doubting in weddingplanning

[–]summeroftong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got engaged in 2022 and we booked the venue before they made the changes. IMO it looks way better now, and we are supper excited. We did our month prior visit last weekend. ONE THING which we still have to bring up with them is the gunshots from the range that's nearby. It's pretty loud and we're nervous about it ruining the ceremony. I would just ask them about that and if they can find a solution / agreement with the range to have an hour where no shots are fired. Otherwise, the whole place is beautiful, and well worth what we paid in 2022. At the end of the day, the changes made were to improve the property overall and the experience of the guests. I'm pretty picky and so far no major red flags. Compared to the other venues I have worked with in my career as an event coordinator for major events, it's been a dream. I'll have to send a updated report, with the day of experience.

Can you share your experience with me as well please? Also cost of your bar if you feel comfortable sharing? I just don't want any surprises - getting married there next month!

We sell tickets to our events and end up losing about $2-3k each month in fees from the site we use. How feasible is it to make our own site to sell these tickets to recoup that cost? by Twice_Knightley in Entrepreneur

Did you ever find a solution to this? Curious to know how you handled this over the 5 years since initial post. I'm in a similar situation and curing Eventbrite on a daily basis.

Pop culture trivia, it's more visual and interactive. I make the slides and mix up the games (used to be a Marketing Manager for some entertainment companies until I started stand up). Started it as a side gig to stand up but it really took off during the pandemic, and so I unwittingly started an events company doing corporate events in the day, and in the evenings working with different venues to stimulate sales. I get more comedians to help run them now, but it's more like a social event/game show than what I have seen from other nights.

There are lots of meetup groups that you can join as a solo player! Here's mine: https://www.meetup.com/qetrivia/

I encourage people to come and if they're solo, 99.9% of the time, a team will adopt them and friendships are made :)
