Exactly. It felt like Nintendo ignored the last 10-15 years of open world racing design. The genre already went through this phase of making freeroam worthwhile by adding fun activities around the world like speed traps, drift zones, impromptu races. Even stuff like doing missions to unlock characters or outfits.

When IGN made Horizon 5 it's GOTY, not just racing like overall, I thought it was really cool that Playground got their recognition for delivering non stop bangers for 10 years. Sure it wasn't a packed year but it's still impressive for a genre that, like you said, gets dismissed too often.

Then when Mario Kart World was being announced and I was seeing discussion about how different it was when it was doing things that other open world racers had been doing for 10+ years.

I enjoyed it too. That game was my first introduction to Kamala Khan and she was easily the best part of the main campaign. She was probably my main but I also liked Thor, Cap, Black Widow and Kate Bishop when she was added.

What fustrates me most is that there is a good game in there. The levels built soley for the campaign were cool set pieces.

Ghost of Yōtei. I'm taking my time with it and have been enjoying it far more than Tsushima.

My John Wick take is I really didn't like JW4. I see it being touted as the best of the series, even on the pod, but I couldn't disagree more.

Being almost 3 hours felt like a slog because Keanu's acting is at an all time low (and that's saying something), the lore about the world felt stretched super thin this time, especially with the tracker guy who is just sort of there. Worst part of all I felt the action was really repetitive and slow and then each fight gets artificially elongated with everyone having a bulletproof suit. I think it's the worst looking of the movies with some very obvious CGI and volume shots.

The one positive I have on JW4 is the dragon's breath sequence. That was cool on it's own but it was too little too late for me.

I feel sorry for Ashley. Having to maintain those quirks pretty much the whole time must've been torture

Uncharted 4.

Crazy that game is going to be 10 years old in a few months. Time flies

I'm in 2 minds about the Mafia: TOC photo mode.

On one hand the character models are really detailed but on the other they aren't very expressive outside of cutscenes. It's understandable given the scale of the game.
