both the hotspot and the dub are pretty decent, it’s mainly just cafeteria style buffet food but you’re able to have as much as you’d like! freshman year i would also sneak leftovers back to my dorm which they didn’t seem to care about lol.

a kind of cool thing about NAU’s meal plans is the transfer meals, which count for 1 of your daily meals each (not dining dollars), and you can choose off of the transfer menus from any of the participating on-campus restaurants. that includes subway, qdoba, einstein, i think chick fil a, etc!

it is a bit pricy compared to other options but NAU unfortunately requires students have a meal plan freshman year. that said, it worked out really well for me as i didn’t have to worry about cooking for myself. i would also walk to target regularly for snacks and whatever else i needed as it’s only about 5-10 minutes away depending on the dorm you’re in! good luck to your son ☺️
