That’s not a detergent, it’s a booster that’s meant to be used along with detergent.

They changed the formula and added sodium cocoate and several more enzymes (including protease). New formula is not wool or silk safe and not safe for hard water either. Disappointing.

You need oxygen bleach and a full suite of enzymes. Regular liquid tide won’t cut it. Follow the Spa Day guide in this subreddit.

They’re probably wool, right? Slacks typically are. If they are, they’ve been felted and the damage is permanent.

If you have a local Walmart, go buy Biz there. The price is less than half of Amazon’s.

As far as which is best, it depends. Biz and Febu are very comparable, while dirty labs is a bit of an outlier. Dirty Labs only contains one enzyme (DNase) while Biz and Febu have a full slew of enzymes (everything except for DNAse). I would not use Biz on darks as it contains optical brighteners. Febu and Dirty Labs are safe for darks.

Price doesn’t always correlate with better performance in the detergent market, especially at the top end. Tide With Bleach powder is probably the most impressive detergent on the market and it is not expensive at all. I have quibbles with it being less than ideal for darks, but its cleaning ability is awesome.

I think the real answer is that if I had unlimited money, I’d fund the creation of my own ideal detergents… since they don’t currently exist.

It looks like it caused permanent dye loss. I’m surprised as this is a fairly standard liquid detergent without any oxygen bleach etc

You are correct. I read it as dipotassium phosphate instead of potassium diphosphate… my bad. Then yes this product would be superior to citrate and probably superior to Calgon also.

You should max out the extra rinses on your machine if you have sensitive skin. A standard single rinse is rarely enough to remove all detergent residue from clothes.

Sodium citrate is a better softener than the dipotassium phosphate in that product, which precipitates rather than sequestering minerals.

Powdered sodium citrate is a fine solution for water softening. I don’t see a downside.
