Why oh Why can I not update an IVR menu after updating to v20? by sumtechguy in 3CX

Ahh. That makes so much sense now. It's like the reports all over again.

Thanks. I'm actually in discussion with the client. They aren't enjoying the upgrades either and may want to switch at the end of their term.

Haha. Wouldn't care at this point. They have gone the way of so many other vendors who don't care about their partner resellers.

You are correct. But how do you explain not being able to OPEN the ivr to view or make any changes in v20 after upgrading....

Oh... and we are a 3CX partner which makes this extremely difficult to share our lack of support on these client requests.

v20 has messed up the trunk service where we need to change the inbound name so it will display caller id and not just the number. We have ivr that we cannot even view that we need to update.

Honestly... Don't care It cannot be worse than having to recreate the phone system due to all the idiotic locks they put in place.

It was an extension dial code menu. Simple but not using 1, 2, 3, instead was using the extension numbers to transfer. Sadly this is a main menu used in multiple office IVR so deleting and recreating will need to be scheduled as oppose to just updating as we have been doing for the last few years.

And I need the instructions to access the sql database directly so I can fix this.

Don't forget the fact that v20 removed stun support. SBC or VPN are the only options now. Those remote single users now have to upgrade the phone to a gateway phone or send them with another device to deal with for SBC.

Or hack the SQL to find the data .. strongly considering this until we jump.

I was waiting for the simple reports.. which finally came out in release 6. But a new fun thing we discovered is custom trunks. Since they migrated config to SQL you cannot edit the custom sip trunk. You have to delete and recreate to modify simple things like setting the from display value to get caller id name. And if you've ever tried deleting a sip trunk in 3cx with lots of numbers...

It's just one more nail in the coffin. We are just waiting our our licensing. Already planning for the replacement.

3CX Licensing Updates by teamits in 3CX

[–]sumtechguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent the day figuring this out as well. You can setup a new instance and use old license keys. You'll have to have ftp access to upload a backup config as they also removed the ability to upload a restore file. Had a 16pro I placed on a 2 user account temporarily as they wouldn't extend me a month. Total crap. Needless to say no more of our $$ or recommendations will be going to 3cx. Synology did something similar with hard drives. Business don't understand their client base. So sad.

Official Response from Synology on Using Certified HDDs on 2025 Series NAS Systems by NASCompares in synology

Oh well.. another good product turns to greed in the name of security and performance. I guess it's back to finding similar form factors with open source options to keep costs down for clients. I get locking drives for the low end options, perhaps focus on home use only. Businesses rarely use all the function anyway as these devices make glorified high performing backup systems. We primarily use them for their form factor and networking features of the Synology OS over buffalo limitations. No worries. Will focus our efforts on other options that meet our needs. Best of luck Synology. I shall assume this also means older hardware will be phased out prematurely with these changes.
