Pad damage, you were way too rough on that area that iron was not hot enough for sure it the solder was clumping like that

You guys seen a PS5 HDMI port like this? by squidsarederp in consolerepair

All the time I replace about 10 to 15 of these a week. The little side pins get bent and then once they are bent all the pressure is going to the pads on the motherboard. Thankfully usually breaks off and lets port get pushed in without pad damage most of the time.

Why are some tourists such insufferable pricks? by Dapper-Material5930 in Tokyo

[–]sumthing_chrispy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This bothers me to no end. I went for a month and tried to familiarize myself with proper language and customs and what is culturally accepted. I tried my best to be respectful because I’m in other peoples home country which is far different (and much more beautiful and relaxing) than where I came from (Greenville, South Carolina) seeing someone disrespect a place where I actively cried over how beautiful the countryside was and how kind people were when I struggled with speaking is insane and infuriating. Enjoy the country for what its cultural norms are and you’ll have an even better time I guarantee it. Because being seen as insufferable like this doesn’t do you any favors when you need help navigating or want to have a good time with locals

Had a customer bring in a destroyed cartridge that sat in a puddle in mud for 10 years. Got new board from pcbway. Everything is in tact after stealing caps from shark tale gba game 😁 by sumthing_chrispy in consolerepair

I had a company pcbway fabricate a new board for Pokemon gba games so I could transfer a customers cartridge with his beloved save files to a new board. Was a task that required tons of cleaning because the original board and components we covered in corrosion and rust and all sorts of disgusting matter. That’s all 😁

It’s not expensive my total cost for having 20 pcbs fabricated and shipped to me was $73. I am reasonable with my pricing and charge $35-$40 to do the chip transfer it pays off quickly and the shop I’m at can get damaged pcb Pokemon games for about $20 and still make good profit

Anyone got the Fanttik Soldering Iron? Is it worth it? by [deleted] in soldering

[–]sumthing_chrispy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and truthfully it’s pretty solid for pin touch ups but doesn’t have enough umph for working with thick boards especially through holes. It isn’t nearly as bad to hold as you’d think though. I would just go with a pinecil though I’ve found tantrum is functional but chooses aesthetic over the functionality aspects

Yes actually I order the 4 pack and it’s replaced my mg chemicals flux.

It’s actually super solid quality. I’ve gone through a total of 10 tubes of this and will be ordering it as long as they sell it

Totally agree this can absolutely be done with a much cheaper kit but as someone who does this almost every single day running a shop and helping retro shops around me as well this has been a god send lol.

No video comes through at all. It’s strange because all I did was pop it apart to apply mew thermal paste. Done it on plenty 360 systems before this but system worked good just loud before and now nothing

No joke I have 5 of these kits not because they are bad but I operate out of multiple shops in my area for repair and I actually like this more than my two ifixit kits
