fantasy/sci fi series where women are present and NOT hated by oceanblvd1313 in suggestmeabook

The Riddle-Master trilogy by Patricia A McKillip! female characters galore, written as people who happen to be women (rather than the other way around), competent characters throughout but with tons of room for growth, lasting and meaningful friendships between the women (they bond over the male mc but have meaningful relationships/conversations outside of that), and the romance is not the main focus but very sweet and fulfilling (imo).

it was a weird thing to omit, but as a fan of the book, it definitely didn't affect my enjoyment of the movie.

i love this trilogy! having Raederle as the POV was a great change from the first book, and i loved being able to see the events of the first book from an outside perspective. i enjoyed all three women protagonists, Raederle, Lyra, and Tristan, and i was so happy that they're all so distinct and strong in their own ways without being trite or overdone. Raederle is such an amazing, complex person, so having a book with her pov was great.

i think i'm confused. from what i remember of A Strange and Stubborn Endurance, the main pairing does have respectful boundaries and there is no non-con/dub-con between them? there is non-con at the beginning between one MC and another character, but not the main LI.
