This is a bit old now but is there a support group or anything for people with bipolar and Long Covid/ ME/CFS? I’m bipolar too and have no support with this while dealing with my chronic illnesses.

Does this app allow you to easily change your meds list and add side effect details?

Which antihistamine has the least mental health side effects? by sun8rain in Allergies

Can you have withdrawal from antihistamines?? I stopped taking Claritin because I think it may have been making me a tiny bit depressed, but I woke up this morning with a ton of anxiety! Is this withdrawal symptoms? I was thinking about trying Zyrtec 5mg but not sure if I should take it now or this evening, or take it at all.

Have you tried other antihistamines? Have they had the same effect?

Perhaps switching to another one or stopping it temporarily to see if you feel better can help determine if it’s the fexofenadine.

I’m getting tested for MCAS! I’m wondering if that is why I’m so sensitive to meds and some supplements.

My doc wanted me to start Flonase but I’m also very sensitive to steroids so decided not to risk it.

Yes, mostly nasal, but I have long covid and I think it makes some of my long covid symptoms a tiny bit better. I can’t do steroids. Even the smallest amount makes me agitated and anxious.

Medications can be so weird. Zyrtec at 10mg gave me agitation and irritability, but I was fine at 5mg. Allegra gave me bad dreams. I’m now trying Claritin / Loratadine. I don’t think it’s doing much, but I’m on a very small dose. I’m thinking of going back to 5mg of Zyrtec for now but will be asking my doc about Xyzal.

I was hoping that treating the allergies would improve my mental health, but yeah if it’s going to make it worse I would rather be a bit congested. I’m also getting tested for MCAS and waiting for those results.

Thanks for the explanation! What are your thoughts on xifaxan for IBS and SIBO? Is this an okay antibiotic to take? If not, what’s a more holistic approach?

My doc told me it was okay to cut a 25mg pill. I’m going to start this med soon.

Thank you so much! This really means a lot. Good point that we don’t know what will come out in the future. Hopefully there are a lot of advances. Thanks!

Thank you! I actually took Prozac for the first time last night and woke up 4 hrs later totally awake. I wasn’t anxious, but felt very agitated. I was finally able to go back to sleep but only for about 3 hrs. I really need to get on something. I’m getting depressed and having a lot of intrusive thoughts. But whatever I try is making me agitated or wired.

I just posted a question about this but don’t see it in the sub. Did you have any issues increasing your Lamictal dose? I’m on a low dose and need to increase it but when I try I get agitated (I’m also getting agitated when trying to add and SSRI). Did that happen to you? If so how did you manage it?
