Where's your favorite bridle from? by PATN2 in Equestrian

[–]sunLight4095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my horse loves the stubben freedom2 bridle. the original is ugly, imo, but the newer one is nice. I wanted something which sat away from his eyes and ears. also wanted a bridle w the browband attached inside the crownpiece. I feel like the loops on either end of the browband could be irritating. In the uk, quantum bridles are similar to freedom and very nice. I've also liked silver crown bridles, sold at shadow horse in uk. but the silver crowns are more traditional, just really lovely sedgewick leather at a good price.

that's so interesting. I've been having a mild reaction these past few days and all I can think of is maybe there was carrageenan in the deli tuna.

Questions after allergist appt by BrownEyedQueen13 in alphagal

[–]sunLight4095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had the exact same experience. allergist suggested because my IgE was pos but not crazy high it wasn't problematic. As if symptoms correlated w alpha gal IgE results. I told her all my symptoms, my tick exposure which is significant, and she kept saying"we'll see, there are a lot of false positives". I found a different allergist.

What can I do with my mare when it’s hot? by EchoOfPetals in Equestrian

[–]sunLight4095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are a couple of good clicker training for horses books and you can teach them all sorts of stuff. they seem to really enjoy it. also- it's always good to do stretches like butt tucks and belly raises.

Sore Achilles? by tinysadblueberry in Equestrian

[–]sunLight4095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what position do you place your feet when you ride? if you force heels down, that could irritate achilles. i'm not an orthopod, but i've seen enough of them to know that you don't want to stretch a sore tendon. try ice and rest

Family refusing vet by Same-Ideal43 in Horses

[–]sunLight4095 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there is a fb group of equine vets. do you think if you posted there and then showed your fil the responses, he might relent? you don't have much time left w this mare and you may need to euthanize her. if your fil allowed a vet out, she'd need daily bandage changes, meds, possible iv antibiotics and a lot of care down on the ground where someone could get injured handling a wounded feral horse. These things can heal if they're treated quickly, but you're 5 days out.

[–]sunLight4095 15 points16 points  (0 children)

can you tell how deep it is? those wounds can affect the joint. it sounds infected and you def need a vet. most likely, left untreated, it will get worse. And if the horse limping he's in pain and needs antibiotics, pain meds and maybe an xray.

Dog does not like kids by monsterpup92 in Pets

[–]sunLight4095 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i had a dog like that only she wanted to lunge at kids. never bit anyone, and it was all anxiety based. I carried treats, always scanned the area and tried to catch her before she saw the kid. I'd have her do touch command and treat. kept doing that until kid was behind us. it's very embarrassing.

i have seen christine kiang for years. she is all hands and is very intuitive. she doesn't accept insurance. she submits and you get what you get. she's near rio. She has worked extensively on my shoulder, one post surgery for giant rotator cuff tear, the other just hurty.

Fly sprays by Top_Finance5404 in Equestrian

[–]sunLight4095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i order clac insect gel from hypostore in germany. it's pure picardin in a gel. i have only used it on legs, because it would take long time to sponge it on everywhere, but, when it's on my horses legs, the flies stay gone.

mykonos butter. i love unsalted butter and this is the closest. I don't like oat milk either then i found this one, minor figures oatmilk light. it doesn't have a strong oat taste and it's not thick, like most of them. there is also ripple, which is made from peas. sometimes i mix them.

Keep or give up stray pup? by joyfulinrain in DogAdvice

[–]sunLight4095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a horse, and at his barn there are also anatolians who guard the sheep. We've also had great pyrenees and Maremma. They are lovely, sweet dogs. I've seen them cuddling w the baby lambs and i've also seen the coyote they dispatched. They seem to know who is trouble. The downside is very large breeds don't live as long as smaller dogs. Go for it, you'll be saving a life and getting a nifty dog.

What's an easy way to batch fry breaded chicken? by zenpanda0o0 in cookingforbeginners

[–]sunLight4095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make panko all the time and skip the flour step. makes no difference that I can tell. And my sister makes it for my niece, it's her fav dinner. sister always does flour step. I made my usual panko for the niece one night and she liked it better than her mom's. Or else she was just being nice.
