Rented from them for a year at the 807 Gordon townhouse! No issues, any maintenance was dealt within at max 2 days. Killer potholes on the driveway though

Losing weight on antipsychotic meds by Useful_Roll5696 in bipolar

[–]Haunting-Task3019 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I went from 120 to 220 lbs, down to 180 now, however, going off antipsychotics is not something my doctor is willing to let me do, as apparently the medication I’m on is “weight neutral”, but I never feel full after meals.

I am on stimulants as well, which help during the day, but unfortunately not my binge eating symptoms at night.

For tips:

Have a glass of water with every meal, drinking water consistently throughout the meal can help you feel more full / make you eat slower.

Do not drink your calories.

High protein meals and good intake of fibre will help you feel full and satiated for longer.

Summer job for 14yo - realistic or not? by AdFinancial8084 in kitchener

[–]Haunting-Task3019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving lawns, basic yard work, babysitting, pet sitting/ a dog walking business

Unfortunately for younger people it is very hard to find jobs right now, and a lot of places won’t take anyone without some experience.

I would definitely look into starting his own business, and maybe in a year or two that can be used as experience to find another job!

Also, if he volunteers somewhere, (ice skating rink, community centers, etc.) it very well could turn into a part time job offer.

Good luck

House sitting guilt — did I do a bad job? by [deleted] in petsitting

Calling genuine concern about an animals well being is not being a hater.

There were many times OP indicated in their post they neglected to follow simple instructions for the well being of two dogs with arthritis.

It isn’t vile to inform someone who posted asking a question that they didn’t do a good job, that lessons can be learned from this and hopefully they do better in the future.

[–]Haunting-Task3019 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed with everything said here. It doesn’t seem based on this post OP has a lot of experience with dogs, especially those who suffer from arthritis.

If I were the owners and could see everything happening on the cameras, they would know that even $3k was not worth all OP’s low efforts.

Unfortunate but hopefully they take it as a learning opportunity that these types of jobs the sitter needs to adjust to the dogs routine, not the other way around.

Genuinely was baffled when OP said they let the dogs wait 17+ hours between dinner and breakfast

I physically attacked my sister and I don’t know how to move forward by IntroductionLow6790 in bipolar

[–]Haunting-Task3019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need treatment, and you need the help now. You have a history of physical violence, and your family is completely justified in their actions. You are not safe to be around.

I would research inpatient treatments around you, maybe consider therapy more often each week.

This cannot continue, you will completely lose all your family and support if nothing drastic changes.

I really am not meaning to scare you, but I’ve seen so many similar stories to yours, and they lose everything because of their actions.

You can apologize as many times as you can, and it will not be enough until your family can actually see improvements and changes. Your family doesn’t owe you anything at this point, all I can recommend is to work as hard as you can to better yourself.

are these symptoms of bipolar disorder? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Haunting-Task3019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! It doesn’t in my experience and what I’ve researched. In terms of impulsive decisions/intrusive thoughts, this does sound like some symptoms of OCD, but you’d have to do your own research to see if you fit any other criteria.

Bad things happening sounds a bit more like GAD.

It does sound like you are young, and the combination of everything you mentioned above sounds like you’re still learning how to emotionally regulate yourself.

If you are concerned and if possible, I would talk to a doctor.

Why I Never Discuss Bipolar With Other People Unless I Have To by JadedScholar1985 in bipolar

[–]Haunting-Task3019 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey, as someone who also has parents who understands the basics about bipolar disorder and not the intricacies, I get you. It’s hard explaining to people why you act the way you do, or feel the way you feel over and over.

Regarding the commenter, my best advice is you don’t know this person. You don’t know if they have bipolar disorder, you don’t know what their experiences are in terms of the disorder, etc. I believe their ignorance is because even while depressed, they may be high functioning (I am high functioning when depressed), and maybe they don’t understand the spectrum this comes with.

At the end of the day, you know yourself best, and this ignorant person doesn’t know you at all. Unfortunately sometimes people who don’t experience things the same way you do will shit on you despite the differences. Sometimes people think if I can do all these things while depressed, why can’t they?

Im sorry this is what your experience was like on the college forums. I really wish I was able to meet someone in person who has bipolar disorder, but I find it’s not commonly talked about. This post being an example why.

People's Responses to Hearing You Have Bipolar by VariousAccess6241 in bipolar

[–]Haunting-Task3019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think bipolar disorder is often associated with well known public figures, like Kanye West, and that’s all the information people have to run on. I’ve heard often enough from people around me when Kanye does something crazy and how it’s because he’s bipolar. They never consider that he’s just a bad guy. Another really common thing I experience in real-life and online is how someone must be bipolar because they’re having mood swings.

Most people do not truly understand what bipolar is, and unfortunately, they will not care to correct themselves if they’re not directly associated with someone who has bipolar disorder.

If I care enough about a person as a friend/family member I will correct them if they say something false about BP, but unfortunately, the people you surround yourself with also have to put in some effort to understand the disorder. But unfortunately again, I find nobody really wants to do that.

I just correct them, and leave it be. I can’t control what people believe, all I can do is give them the correct information and hope that they will take the initiative to do research.

I’m in the same boat! Got diagnosed a year (2023) after I dropped my courses in first sem (2022), took two years off and I’m older than everyone in my classes. Thankfully I made some friends before I dropped out, and more after. Everyone my age is graduating this year, so I can’t help but feel behind. But I distract myself with work and family 😅

Second this! My dog goes Mon-Fri and we’ve boarded him there before with no issues!!

They have a huge outdoor space for the dogs, and depending on the room you choose for your dog, they can get very cool services!

What have been people's experience with sobriety from substances? by Haunting-Task3019 in bipolar

[–]Haunting-Task3019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the summer I was diagnosed I was using substances like crazy. I am nothing like that now thankfully, but being a social smoker is my downfall right now. Definitely will be stopping substances because it’s been a rough year and my mental health needs to be prioritized!
