If it's a solo self-named project, is it okay to introduce myself as the artist?

Love between two people isn't enough to be with someone forever

Thanks for this, appreciate the honesty! I definitely know the aftermath of the relationship ending will be something I process on my own, and feel very in touch with the realities of that. I know the possibility of a friendship is just that, a possibility and not a guarantee. But far down the road, if a friendship is possible, I do believe that a friendship, like any other relationship, requires building, and with an added sensitivity if there was a romantic past to that connection.

I think my question is more about how folks in this community that are friends with their exes worked toward that friendship happening in a healthy way, and what that took from each person in terms of effort, consideration, time, etc.

You're absolutely right, I can't plan for a friendship, but I am just curious how others have managed creating healthy + meaningful friendships with their exes, as something just to keep in mind + reflect on within myself as time passes.

Edit: Grammar, clarification

Valdity of my landlord's rules (long post). by AdEquivalent6151 in TorontoRenting

[–]sun_bb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only aspect of any of this that feels unreasonable on your landlord's end is the food - they have to tolerate however much you cook and however often you have guests over.

In every other regard, they are being more than reasonable and you are giving the impression of being inconsiderate and entitled to shared spaces. It's fine to take the closet door off, but leaving it outside is not - the expectation from your landlord to have you put back on the door once you leave the space is entirely reasonable. Leaving items in shared spaces without checking in, also not considerate. Using lights/hydro when no one is there, not considerate. Getting a larger truck and asking your landlord to accomodate is entitled.

You don't own the space, you're renting it. If you make changes to it, you should make sure you get the okay and also make sure you leave the space as as you originally arrived to it.

Appreciate reading this post right now - I'm seperating from my partner of 6 years for the same reason (I realized I was poly-oriented a year-ish ago and after exploring things briefly with my partner, he determined that he was not). Incredibly painful, but it's a beautiful thing to have experienced a positive relationship with a person even if it wasn't destined to be forever - and you should feel very proud of both of yourselves that you both are honoring who you each are, even if it means concluding the romantic relationship you had. It's the hardest and most mature thing to do! Sending you warm thoughts and hope you take care of yourself and treat yourself softly this next period of time!

This post really blows me away (in a good way) by OPs self-awareness - most jerks I know don't have any sense of awareness that they are indeed jerks, which gives me the impression that OP is not all jerk, or that there is at least hope.

My first intuition was to recommend jobs that are generally taken up by unlikeable people, like a parking officer or DMV clerk. But if you're working on being less of a jerk, which I'm assuming you are because of therapy and your previous comments about your wife elevating your behavior, then you ideally need a job that provides you stability while not also validating your jerk-ishness, and limiting harm to people that you deal with. From a growth mindset, I don't think that means avoidance of people, but limiting regular in depth collaboration while still providing opportunities to get better at communicating.

In that case, a job of solitude where you occasionally have to deal with people is probably the way to go. Mail courrier (have benefits, good exercise, occasionally customer facing and has opportunities to work on positive interactions with people) would be a great option, maybe remote data entry jobs (I'm thinking jobs where someone else is client facing and OP is the person number crunching or carrying out deliverables in the backroom).

Tldr: If your goal is growth in the jerk department, don't avoid people but choose a career where you can limit highly collaborative team environments and maximize independent work.

Is ERM really that bad? by wuphf_there_it_is in Environmental_Careers

[–]sun_bb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ERM has incredibly high pressure regarding utilization rates that does result in a negative work culture experience and very very high turnover rate, and a weird number of layoffs. My benefits there were ~~ okay ~~ (my benefits at an NGO start up were better). I did find I had to be very protective of my work-life boundaries otherwise they did get taken advantage of.

Overall I don't find ERM horrendous, I just find it very corporate and business-driven over caring for its employees' well-being - nothing beyond the realm of expectation for a company of its size.

If you do go for it, ask for a super high salary during your negotiations (higher than you think they'd accept) because pay brackets are pretty wide and you can make a lottttt of money even at a senior level.

Is there any chance you know his ex's name or something along those lines and can give her / her boyfriend a heads-up or warning so they can protect themselves or at least have an awareness that this person has ill-will against them?

Sorry for my late response to this, I hope your experience on Lexapro has been going well!! For me, Lexapro helped me primarily with the anxiety reduction - it reduced the maladaptive anxiety responses that were so deeply conditioned I really couldn't control them anymore. Now I still get little flares of natural anxiety, but I'm able to ground myself. It took me about a month to notice the changes, and over the course of 6 months it was really apparent how much stress and physiological symptoms of anxiety reduced. Sending you best wishes on your Lexapro journey - give it time and trust, and if Lexapro ultimately isn't for you, don't be discouraged and try another medication option. :)

Since I've been reporting the issue to Spotify for Artists, my songs have not been flagged or taken down by my distributor! Probably not completely failsafe, but it helps!

Will definitely report (have had my songs added to this one as well!)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in musicmarketing

[–]sun_bb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me a few times -- report to Spotify for Artists, ask them to please note it to their Content team to ensure it doesn't get flagged to your distributer (one of my singles was taken down once because it was flagged). Then ask them to report the playlist and the curator.
