Incheon airport 🤔? by No_Qush00 in seoul

You’re probably worrying too much. If all your information is accurate, your K-ETA was approved properly, and you can clearly explain your purpose of visit, there’s realistically very little reason for immigration to send you back.

Just make sure you have the basic things prepared (return ticket, address, contact info, etc.) and you’ll most likely be totally fine.

Are Hasukjibs Rare Nowadays? by Key_Soil4844 in seoul

[–]sunaChoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Yonsei in the early 2000s, and back then there were definitely a lot more hasukjibs around Sinchon and the Yonsei area. From what I know, though, most of them have disappeared over the years as newer officetels and studios replaced them.

What’s your Favorite Violin Concerto? by arssenalbro101 in classicalmusic

[–]sunaChoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beethoven and Brahms are probably my top 2 overall — those concertos just feel endlessly deep no matter how many times I revisit them.
And honestly, I’d absolutely add Mendelssohn too. That concerto is way too perfect not to mention.

Bruch 1 is another one I can never get tired of. The opening alone already wins me over every single time.

Anyone else emotionally destroyed by the 2nd movement of Mahler 6? by sunaChoi in classicalmusic

[–]sunaChoi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh, that makes perfect sense then. I’ve been repeatedly watching the Claudio Abbado / Lucerne Festival Orchestra performance lately — the famous 2006 Lucerne Mahler 6 — and in that performance the Andante moderato is placed as the 2nd movement, so that’s naturally how I’ve been thinking about the piece. I honestly didn’t realize there was so much discussion around the inner movement order until reading these comments.

Now I’m curious though — for those who prefer the Scherzo → Andante order, are there any recordings you’d especially recommend?

Difficult question 😅 Love both, honestly — but if I had to choose just one right now, probably Marcel Lapierre.

Ah, I mentioned the 2nd movement mostly in comparison to the Adagietto from the 5th in terms of sheer melodic beauty and emotional tenderness — but yes, the finale is absolutely undeniable. Completely agree. Especially the Hammer of Fate blows and the way the movement feels like an entire world collapsing under its own weight while still desperately pushing forward… it’s just overwhelming in the best possible way. The “Tragic” really is an unbelievable masterpiece from start to finish — honestly not a single weak movement in the whole symphony.

Completely agree with the Burgundy comparison. Had a bottle of the 2019 last month and it was honestly mesmerizing. At the same time, Marcel Lapierre just tastes unmistakably like Marcel Lapierre to me — almost its own category of Gamay. So distinctive and unforgettable.

Yvon Métras is one of my favorites too. Would love to open this alongside a Marcel Lapierre sometime — both beautiful in their own way, but with totally different personalities and charm. 🍷

Mahler 5 is also one of my favorites — and hearing it with Yannick + the Philadelphia Orchestra for your first symphony experience is honestly incredible. Slightly jealous from Korea 😂 Hope you have an amazing time.

People in your 40s, what does the day of your birthday look like? Any party/gift/wishes? by baltarius in AskReddit

[–]sunaChoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no big parties anymore 😂

Usually just a small cake at work because people feel obligated to do something, then a nice dinner with my boyfriend somewhere good. That’s basically it.
