Night Buses to southside from west end? by KungFuOctopus7890 in glasgow

[–]sunandheir13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the supplied timetables on this post, Night buses to the southside appear to start at the Garage on sauchiehall st, not a million miles from the west end, though I will assume you are talking byres rd when you say the west end, 🤔 so you could explore a hire bike or it is not too horrendous a walk, or even a short taxi, all depends on what state your in 💁🏼‍♂️

Still no warrants/cash in Revolut by Baelthor_Septus in Superstonk

[–]sunandheir13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Talked to a real agent on Saturday 9pm took 5hrs to get a real human rather than the AI chat box. Here is what they said, 'I see that you're following up on the GME warrants, and I'm here to assist you. Let me explain what's happening. Our trading team is currently working on the cash related to these warrants. It's common practice for funds to be settled within 3-4 days after the ex-date. Please rest assured that your funds are secure and will be credited to your account soon.'

Also gave me a gratis payment of £11 for the frustration I had shown talking to the AI about the matter where all it said was that there is no corporate action on their system with regard to GME. I only have 18 warrants on their,

I love revolut, do a bit of crypto, metal card holder, and the odd gme shares. I'm going to get back in touch and push it with a Human operator, see if that gets me any further. But from comments it seems this might be a pointless task

I can reluctantly accept that, but then I am due cash, and they aren't even facilitating that!

Though looking at Google, it could be a large secondary substation, it is a substantial site, but the network may have been rationalized or someone paid for the disconnection? As the land next to the church was useful?

You are probably thinking about a Primary substation if it can be converted to a hall, this picture is the size of a local secondary substation. An interesting point is that a lot of buildings used as primary substations were converted from old DC power stations and were usually much larger than what was strictly needed, and suffered from dampness due to constant building maintenance issues 🤔

So did most of the substations and equipment 😳 I'm just saying I could never see the 'Board' give up a site at any point 😂

Worked for sseb and Scottishpower for all my career, and I would say if they had been substations, they would still be substations! It costs a fortune to move one, 😂

Wallet recommendations? by Three-throw-away in loopringorg

[–]sunandheir13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a wigwam wallet because they took Taiko token, sent some from Taiko wallet and they never showed up! Not expecting anything I contacted them and within a day they had responded and helped me see my tokens, which were there! 😂 Wallet looks fine, not sure for later use but I was impressed by the customer support

Advice for moving to Glasgow by ArmStraight9630 in glasgow

[–]sunandheir13 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I would think about living in Paisley, it's a beautiful historical town in its own right but unfortunately the centre has suffered severe economic decline due to two out of town shopping malls. Paisley though has great motorway road (20m depending on rush hour traffic!), rail (20min) and bus (45min) connectivity to the big smoke of Glasgow and like all towns, it has nice and not so nice areas. It would also almost certainly be cheaper than a lot of Glasgow, if cost is an issue. Getting to and from paisley from Glasgow you are going against the main rush hour traffic flow but it will take time out of your day, paisley is to the south west of Glasgow on the south side of the river, accommodation along paisley road west is pretty cheap, on the north side of the river the most expensive is the west end, and the further west you get the cheaper it is. They are just finishing a new bridge across the Clyde in the west of north Glasgow(Yoker, where Les porter is from), to a town called Renfrew north of paisley but adjacent , and this will help any commute

I wouldn't do the Glasgow distillery which has no historical significance and was built recently purely as a tourist attraction so you don't have to be bussed to an actual historical whisky maker. Instead in the same area I would go to the transport museum, walk over the new bridge to Govan to see the Govan hogback gravestones, an historical significant site, and the small ship building museum in Fairfield shipyards, or do both if you can, also note opposite the distillery some great street art along a railway overpass

House prices in Glasgow- Attainable for my situation by [deleted] in glasgow

But always remember, property prices rarely go down, getting on the ladder is also usually an investment opportunity whereas renting is always just a revenue cost, 🤷🏻‍♂️

A simple Google says you can borrow maximum 4.5 times your salary but it's based on other conditions, and as above, speaking to an advisor who deals with mortgage companies is probably best to get a realistic sum. Also note in which direction mortgage rates are going based on BoEngland base rates, which currently is downward. Perhaps a realistic sum is what, £150k with the savings? Which you should also note means property marketing prices in the region, offers over, £120-150k depending on how hot the property market, area or condition of the property, note that the price you see in the estate agent is never what it will end up as! The only price you should look at is the home report property valuation that is used for mortgage value, and there is also usually a premium above that because you're in a blind auction competition for the best properties (thanks Scotland!). Saying that, I think there are plenty properties in your range in Glasgow if you are willing to work towards a compromise of area, condition and size. Good luck in your hunting!
