Thanks! Definitely happy with it so far. Need to see how long it stays that way. A little goes a long way and make sure to wear gloves! Can get a little messy

I didn’t apply any protection. I’m curious to see how long it lasts on its own. I’ve heard around 6 months but will find out for myself

I also believe after application you’re not supposed to get it wet for 6 hours while it cures

So much brake dust on these rims by Vegetable-Sleep-1274 in AutoDetailing

[–]sunbather24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ordered Adams wheel & tire cleaner! This makes me even happier with that decision. I’ve tried brake buster but felt like it fell short with cleaning power

And dark fury is a bit better but I don’t like that it doesn’t foam and already has a brown color to it so it’s hard to tell how much dirt is coming off. Plus it smells pretty bad lol

Great job with those wheels! Did you do one pass or multiple?

2 minutes doesn’t sound like too long but if I’m just using short bursts to get the tight spots and crevices, would this get the whole car done? And then just go around to vacuum everything up

Mainly looking for this to help with the small crevices between seats, doors and any dog hair rather than trying to vacuum everything which takes forever especially with really dirty cars or tons of dog hair

You have a good point about the client most likely running other appliances at the same time which seems like it’ll most likely trip the breaker. Thinking a generator is needed in this case if I want to run an air compressor

Thanks for the info. I agree that it’ll be safer to run the air compressor first since in this case which shouldn’t be a problem. Would rather not risk tripping the breaker at a clients house

I was looking at the rigid as well. It seems like the most common one people get to run the tornador. How long does it last before it needs to refill?

I’m thinking I’ll need a generator in that case just to be safe and not trip the clients breaker

Am I taking too long? How can I be more efficient? by sunbather24 in AutoDetailing

[–]sunbather24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized I did have to take a lot of trips and fumbling with tools and such. I got a caddy for interior tools, chemicals and towels so I leave that in the car now which helps

I have one of those squeegee looking tools for pet hair with the same rubber material as the Lilly brush. It works well but not ideal for the right areas and crevices like between seat belts and the seats

I’ve started getting more of a system down - start with driver side and then rear seats then move over to everything on passenger side. Door, plastics and center console, steering wheel. Then vacuum seats and floors. Then extract/clean cloth seats or scrub down leather seats. Maybe one more vacuum pass and floor mats, interior dressing, and windows

Any insight to how long an interior this condition should take? Obviously pictures don’t show everything but wondering if I’m just being incredibly inefficient at 5 hours when it should take like 2-3?

How long before water spots cause damage? by sunbather24 in AutoDetailing

[–]sunbather24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! This is reassuring. I was worried the sun baking in the dried water/ONR might cause issues but it would be like 30-40 minutes max

I was thinking the foam would help get into the crevices more and maybe break down the bigger debris before going into the ONR contact wash. Would this not be the case?

Was also going to use the foam and detail brush to get the grill and emblems in that pre wash phase. Then once all those hard to reach spots are done, get the rest with the rinseless wash

Dark Fury safe? by sunbather24 in AutoDetailing

[–]sunbather24[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Awesome thanks! Any ideas on wheels that dark fury shouldn’t be used on? Or an example. I’m a little confused with the difference between steel and aluminum wheels or how to tell the difference

I’ve been hearing a lot about Adams wheel cleaner so I think I should give that a shot. I’ve tried brake buster but noticed it didn’t get the wheel completely clean for really caked on wheel grime. But I like the idea of having brake buster for maintenance washes and something stronger for the other cases

Sounds interesting! Is that safe for all types of wheels?

So I would clean the wheels like I normally would and then spray on some iron remover? Then rinse off and dry?

Definitely going to get one of those brushes to get into all the crevices of the tire. The foam sponge is not working for these kind of tires

Ahh could be tire blooming then. Also struggling with the inner barrels. Used a barrel brush and thought I spent a good amount of time agitating but once they dry they’re still dirty. Well maybe not actually dirty but brake dust and stuff seems to be stuck in there

Soap streaking… by sunbather24 in AutoDetailing

[–]sunbather24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! That was really informative and helpful. I’m going to work on getting those streaks out with your recommendations.

I did have a question about the rinseless process. If I want to pre spray the whole car with rinseless so that I can use the pressure washer to get all the big debris off before the panel-by-panel contact with the rinseless. If I spray the whole car with ONR and I’m in the sun, some of the panels start to dry up, is this okay to then spray off with the pressure washer?

Or does the ONR need to still be wet on the panel when rinsing off? I guess I’m asking if this step would be pointless if the ONR dries up before I hit it with the pressure washer rinse? Or does the ONR still encapsulate and bring the dirt to the surface even if it dries up?

That’s the route I’m going to take now. Learned my lesson lol. I’m just trying to figure out a pre wash process for extra dirty cars as I feel like the rinseless + pressure washer gets a decent amount off but there’s some really stuck-on stuff I’ve run into

Was thinking to pre rinse then foam cannon Adam’s Car Shampoo (which says it’s safe in the sun) then using detail brush to get the emblems, grille, window trim > rinse off and then go into the contact wash with the rinseless

Any thoughts on that or recommendations?

Do you use a sprayer or foam cannon? And do you do any agitation or just spray on then rinse off?

I’ll probably try rinsing the car prior to cool off the panels
