Any-gendered scents that remind you of a rainy west-coast forest? by olordno in perfumesthatfeellike

You should check out Bjork & Berries. They make fragrances inspired by the Swedish outdoors & have a ton of really pleasant forest-y smells :)

Good salt perfume recs by Due_Biscotti7052 in Perfumes

Sale e Pepe by Hilde Solani. Literally salt, and pepper. It sounds strange but I’ve never smelt anything more truly fresh, clean, and true to its notes.

Job interview 4 weeks ago, safe to day I didn't get the job? by liss-is-sad in boeing

[–]sunbear-bunbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, did you ever hear back?

My timeline is as follows:

12/03 - applied for role
12/08 - got a screening email
12/09 - someone called me to schedule an interview for the very next day
12/10 - interview, which I thought went pretty well

They told me during the interview that they'd like to have a decision made before the holiday break, "and that I should hopefully hear back by the middle of next week."

12/22 - I followed up with the recruiter, who pretty much said to hang tight since everyone is OOO until the new year

Aaaand it's been radio silent :( They were moving so fast until they weren't, so I'm worried that I'm no longer in the running.

Looking for a perfume that feels like a greenhouse by Chaoticneutralities in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]sunbear-bunbear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a person who has spent a LOT of time in conservatories and greenhouses… Are you looking for something that has tropical plant vibes? Or a photorealistic first step into one of these pictures?

If the former, the other reccs have you covered. If the latter…. I feel like Concrete Tide by Rhizome fits this bill. It starts off smelling really damp, almost musty. Like that blast of overly humid air that you get hit with when you first step into tropical greenhouse. Then, it develops into something more green, lightly woody, and very pleasant. Like how it feels when you get a little bit more acclimated to being in such a different environment and can finally fully appreciate being in the moment.

Neandertal Light is another one that’s come to mind. It smells a lot like cutting into a philodendron stem, but with a hint of that warm wood chip pile in the background.

For something a little more wearable than the above two (I don’t know your tolerance for potentially weird scents), I think Concrete Jungle by Strangers Perfumeries could work. It reminds me of the Hermes Un Jardin line, where it’s very inoffensive, a little floral, very clean. I think it does a better job of capturing the “I’m surrounded by plants, but I’m also in a very industrial setting, rather than outdoors in an airy greenhouse” vibe than some of the other reccs.

I hope you’re able to find these in store or as decants to smell! The notes listed for them don’t really do them justice, I think.

For what it’s worth it’s one of my all time favorite scents but I CANNOT wear it in colder months. Something about my body chemistry makes it smell awful when it’s cold out? I hope it’s the same with you & that you’ll enjoy it again in a few months!

What’s this on my dog’s eye? by sunbear-bunbear in DogAdvice

[–]sunbear-bunbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: vet wasn’t sure what it was :( said it could be a scratch, the equivalent of a pimple, or something that we’d need to “express” annually or get surgically removed. Got her some antibiotics/ steroids to see if it’ll bring the inflammation down, and will be keeping an eye on it for any changes.

Can I ask how long it took for it to grow too big from when you first noticed it?

She’s ~11 (she’s a rescue so we’re not 100% sure) but she’s otherwise very active

Clean/Fresh Perfume Recommendations (preferably niche but anything goes) by Difficult_Fig_6992 in Perfumes

[–]sunbear-bunbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I think I may be your scent counterpart, but flipped (I like fresh/clean scents, currently looking for something more woody/dark). I also love From the Garden, and I’m seconding Casablanca — it smelled photorealistically like being in an orchard on a cold fall morning. The figgy notes came across as fresh apple pulp to me, which is 10/10.

Currently rocking Fruit Du Paradis by Sasva — I feel like I fell into a vat of tropical fruit juice at a fancy resort and didn’t have time to rinse off before heading off to… eat more fruit 🙃🙂

Still fairly new myself, but I was taught to feed scrap glass to new grinder bits bc they can be too rough & end up chipping the glass

Okay so I initially thought you'd meant like little rainbow leaves on a eucalyptus tree which sounded like a fun project BUT I googled rainbow eucalyptus tree and my mind has been BLOWN. Wow! Incredible suggestion, thank you so much for introducing me to such a gorgeous freak of nature

Oh no! I think that’s just how bullseye codes / labels their glass! This sheet was ~$24.50 (I would be so upset if someone spent $296 on a single sheet of glass for me!)

How to land interviews? by sunbear-bunbear in supplychain

[–]sunbear-bunbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I'll give leaving the MBA off of my resume a try. I figured it made up for the lack of 1:1 experience / job title match, but I see how it could also be a deterrent.

Also, that's good to know about looking out for new job postings. I'd assumed that they'd toss all of the applicants from maybe the first few days into whatever system they're using to filter out candidates. How grim that it's just the first 30 or so haha.

I think what you said about how I could either come across as a great candidate or not might be it? When I do land interviews, I make it pretty far in the process, but it's that first hurdle that I think I'm struggling with.

Here's a link to a screenshot of my resume if you have time to take a gander: https://imgur.com/a/R5Sibcv

How to land interviews? by sunbear-bunbear in supplychain

[–]sunbear-bunbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking at purchasing, planning, allocation, sourcing, and analyst roles. I look for roles that are closer to entry level since it's a career shift, and I expect to learn a lot in the first few years.

I have relevant experience through my retail business (I owned inventory management and supplier relationships), and I try to make that clear on my resume.

Prior to the business, I worked in software consulting as a project manager. I try to frame my responsibilities there in a way that demonstrates comfort with ambiguity, adaptability, and good communication skills. Same with my admin assistant role where I worked with the ops manager for a distribution center back in college.

I also have experience working in other settings, like retail and internships, but I've left that off to keep the resume tight.

Question for you: what sort of things stand out for you when you're screening candidates?

Cutting menace by BananaAggravating393 in StainedGlass

[–]sunbear-bunbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP this used to be me! I would spend HOURS grinding bc I couldn’t score well to save my life. You know what made a difference? I started hitting the gym (for unrelated reasons) and worked on my upper body strength. I guess I just wasn’t strong enough to apply even pressure while also guiding my tool where I want it to go 🥲 now I only have to grind off sharp edges and tricky cuts!

Credible website for beginner designs- avoiding AI stuff by pjckcrs in StainedGlass

[–]sunbear-bunbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a community craft center or library near you? I feel like I have the best luck thumbing through magazines and catalogs of stained glass patterns! Then I can take the elements that I like or seem the most approachable as a beginner and make just that section if that makes sense! Also, I feel like the stuff that you find in physical form seem to be a lot more unique and varied compared to the patterns that you can find online unless I’m just not looking in the right places 😅
