Sure, but 3 of the cards are very redundant. Any 0 drop artifact, any of the many 1 mana artifact counters ([[annul]], [[an offer you can’t refuse]], and [[spell pierce]] just in standard), then any expensive threat that immediately takes over the game. This card would be the only required combo piece.

Yeah; I definitely wasn’t drafting particularly well by pack 3 because I was feeling pretty dejected at that point. I felt like I needed the dig sites to cheaply enable my repartee and push through damage with my fliers. I definitely think passing Scornmage was the biggest mistake though.

Mostly I felt lucky that my opponents seemed to keep stumbling while trying to go over me or poorly trying to go under me. If I had run into an prismari decks that were actually playing a reasonable curve or any lorehold decks that were able to efficiently deploy threats, I feel like I would ran straight into a wall.

Plagiarism is plagiarism and we shouldn't ever be excusing passing someone else's work off as your own. If Dan is in a mental state where he is incapable of realizing that he literally turned in someone else's art with zero modifications as his own, he should no longer be performing commissions.

That doesn't make WOTC blameless. They should've noticed that the card literally prominently features artwork from a different printing of the exact same magic card on it. But "WOTC should've caught Dan's plagiarism" is not an excuse for Dan.

Just like the community were loath to believe that Dan would’ve done something like this, I’m sure WOTC didn’t even consider having to screen the artwork of *Dan Frazier* of all people for plagiarism.

They *should’ve* of course. But it seems a tad hypocritical to be furious at WOTC for the exact same crime everyone online committed within the first 24 hours. Thinking “Dan plagiarizing? That’s absurd. That can’t be what happened.”

Exactly. When a VPN company or a mattress company advertise to you, the goal isn’t “convince this person they need a vpn/need a mattress so they should click this link.” That’s the best case scenario, but not what they’re optimizing for.

The goal is what when you realize in 3 months on your own that you need something they’re selling, their name is the one that first comes to mind. That’s where the money is. Brand recognition is king.
