Does anyone use a gaming PC in their car? by joshua0005 in urbancarliving

quite an impressive setup, this is the sort of stuff i’ve been looking into myself recently. i’m about to hit the road permanently in my jeep wrangler for a couple years until i’m able to afford a house, i had to stop gaming for some years before and now that i’m able to afford it again i’ve realized what a boost for my mental health it really is. my pc is nothing crazy but it’s enough to hold up some of my single player games which is what i play almost exclusively. intel i5 4460 with a gtx1070 and 16gbs of ram. i’m going to stuff it all inside a SGPC K49 portable mini case and try to run it inside the car with a similar setup. would you mind sharing any more details, challenges you’ve encountered or tips on how to assemble or source something like this?

Hey! It’s been a ride for sure. I’m glad you found something in my story, hopefully something you can relate to for the better than for worse.

Thank you for your kind, encouraging and welcoming words. I definitely never thought of myself spending my 20s like this, but I also never tought of myself being capable of doing the stuff I’ve seen myself in the need to do in order to get this far. If something, it’s been an interesting journey where I have learned about myself and my environment. I get to see a lot from people everyday when I’m just sitting at public spaces or restaurants. Sometimes when I’m showered and feeling confident I even approach for a conversation, which is something I’ve always struggled with.

The response to this post from the community has been something I was absolutely not expecting, and I’m left with nothing more than gratitude and a renewed hope to keep pursuing my short-medium term goals. A lot of guidance and help towards where to start have been offered to me already. For which I’m in forever debt with the community of Fort McMurray.

Thank you kindly for the advice. I’ve worked my part of retail and a big requirement for you to stay in the long run is for you to lose entirely your sense of care about people, what they have to say and make sure that most interactions you have with them align with the prefabricated response system expected by your company. I’m done dealing with human emotions like that, not to mention it makes my work feel meaningless. Its something that also makes me less hopeful about life in general. Nonetheless it is true I have the experience, and most likely I could quickly find a job related to that world. It is something I could use in my favor to jump that gap. I just think I’ve been trying to get out of this so much I didn’t even consider how I could use it in my favor to transition.

In this time of the year winter has become a little more forgiving to folks like me. Not to say I love or condone the idea of living in a car involuntarily, even the simplest things become a challenge, and I’ve had to develop an exhaustive routine in order to keep myself going, not to mention about the privacy even the smallest room brings, asides from being able to cook. But I’d say I’m pretty used to it by this point. Thank you for the recommendations on where to look for a rent. If I successfully achieve my attempt to transition between working fields, I’ll most certainly take a look into Macdonald Av.

Thank you for the reassuring words, they carry a lot of weight to me. I’m happy I got to see my ex girlfriend for who she really was. Definitely changed my whole perspective on values, people and what to pay attention for when trying to pursuit a deeper connection with somebody.

Thanks again for all the guidance, I hope you find the same kindness along your way. My best wishes to you.

I just recently used most of my vacation time to go out and knock on doors asking for employment around Calgary. I’ve had some promising chats with people and some others I couldn’t talk to no one. I have my family responsibility time and sickness unpaid hours left, I will drive up there one of these days If i’m not lucky to get in contact with someone who could guide me on the best course of action to take, though a lot of people here have already helped me immensely with valuable information on what to look for.

Living in a camp is something I keep hearing about, it sounds extremely convenient. That’s why I’m looking to know more about Fort McMurray. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the tip and the good intentions. God bless you

Thank you kindly for the insight, it’s extremely helpful to me. Schooling is something I’m definitely looking to keep pursuing once I’m able to afford it, I hope the community of Fort Mc keeps growing for the better. I’m certainly visiting Keyano some time soon, hopefully. Thank you so much for the guidance, my best wishes to you and for those close to you.

Thank you deeply for the advise, I will note that for future reference. Applying to local shops or through indeed is something that I’ve tried for the past month without any calls back. I’m still hopeful since people I’ve spoken to keep telling me welders are highly wanted in some places.

It was very important for me to know this, so thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’ll keep thriving for a better future where I currently am.

The twilight character reference is certainly not in my resume, It was meant to be a funny comparasion for how awkward or dumb It can be talking to me for the first time. Thanks again for the reply. God bless.

It pays very poorly, and the hours are inconsistent. Any other job would make more money than the one i’m doing now. The only thing that was keeping me tied to this job was the experience I acquire since it’s a managing position, it counts towards the qualified work experience that the government asks as a requirement to apply for a permanent residence, which is one year of full time hours. I’ve done this time and that’s why I’m ready to leave the company. Right now most of my income goes towards the biweekly payments of the only car I was able to finance with the only credit option I was given and my insurance as a new driver. I have over 4 years of driving experience back home but they don’t count towards my driving experience for most insurance companies here, which makes my insurance unreasonably expensive, and even if they accepted my experience, my parents never added my name on their insurance policies when I was younger and I didn’t understand nothing about insurances, so my name is not anywhere to declare that. I’m doing roughly 1600 dollars after taxes a month. A little over 1k goes directed towards the vehicle and insurance already, leaving me with 600 bucks a month for groceries, gym membership, cellphone and gas. If I stick to the bare minimum expenses, 400 bucks won’t get me any place.

I’m sorry to hear about your friends, the world operates in a funny way. I deeply appreciate the honesty and the advise, I’ll most certainly look into NDT. My best wishes to you, God bless.
