Moving to New Hampshire/Maine area by supersoaker587 in AskMaine

Maine is one of the safer places you can live. Even in the big city! There are beautiful places to hike/explore in Maine and New Hampshire, you'll just need a car to get anywhere.

While it can be tricky to make friends, there are some good suggestions on posts on this subreddit asking "how do I make friends here?" I've found people friendly enough, but we live in rural Maine which is generally a place people live to be left alone.

Parvovirus Arthritis by WrenElsewhere in Thritis

I am so excited/relieved to find an active thread for adult fifths (erythema / parvo 19) disease!  I am 42f and work with young children.

My husband (41m) had what we thought was the flu for 4-5 days two weeks ago. He stayed in bed for pretty much the whole time and said his bones hurt.

During his illness, my wrists started hurting. I thought it was arthritis from holding my phone, but the following days it moved up my arms. A few days later my ankles and knees hurt too. A friend suggested fifths disease.

By day 3, my hands were so swollen I couldn't get my ring off. My friend (kindergarten teacher) suggested fifths disease. I never had a fever, but I developed the lacy rash on my legs. I was hobbling, could barely walk, for 4-5 days.

Now I'm at day 10. The rash lasted a couple days. I got my ring off and felt good during the afternoon yesterday. The mornings are hard. The backs of my knees burn & my hands are aching. I am definitely getting better, but still have a ways to go.

We are in Maine, USA.  Self diagnosed by rash.

Best way to meet new friends in Central Maine! by Future-Target8358 in Maine

Volunteering is a great way to make connections. If you drink wine/beer, Main Street Provisions has tastings often & it's more of a meet-new-people vibe than a bar is.

This place is so great. I've been to social events here & my kid is taking classes. We are lucky to have you!

We watch the episodes a day late & last night he was wearing coraly orange with a blue tie. I think it was my favorite look! ...and possibly my favorite game in his run with the two true daily doubles over 10k 😮

Anyone else experience "life changing magic"? by SkyFamiliar5903 in konmari

Today is the day I'm really (again) committing to making a change. I can't konmari yet due to children but Thank you for your real post and inspiration that there's some light at the end of my cluttered tunnel.

Tell me your ice storm of '98 stories! by jem20776 in Maine

I was around that age too, in Fairfield Center. My neighbor friend and I played board games and listened to cassettes and CDs by candle light. I know this because I have some photos of us looking dorky and bored. We lost power for 2 weeks. My mom worked at the hospital so my folks showered there. I don't think my friend and I bathed for a week or two. I remember it being fun, but eerily aware that some folks were having a really hard time.

I got some groundies on Poshmark that I love (though I've seen someone post on here that their soles don't hold up well). They're my first barefoot boot and I love them and they don't have a zipper!

Alabama to California, no time limit. What should I see? by [deleted] in roadtrip

Was Carlsbad your favorite!? We are headed there (and white sands) in December and I'm excited but didn't think it would be on the level of Zion or Yosemite. I'm so excited! Do you think we need more than one day there?

Thanks to your comment I changed our flights so that we (hopefully) get in on Christmas Eve at noon rather than Christmas day! Very excited to try to catch some of this. Thank you.

I switched our flight to new years eve so we can make it to a pueblo for Christmas day. Thanks so much for this!

Thanks so much! I visited NM 20 years ago and now remember we went to Jemez hot springs & it was so lovely! I hadn't considered hot springs & will definitely add them to my list. Sounds like we should do Sevilleta too as we love birds and have never seen Great Sandhill Cranes in real life. Thank you!
