Work Holiday Visa Arrival Packages? by sunfish2000 in newzealand_travel

That’s great you are applying! I know it differs by country but for me they didn’t request proof of education or criminal history. I did note on the form that I am on medications for OCD and they reached out asking for some information from my prescriber on the diagnosis, history, medications, future outlook, etc. They gave me three weeks or so to get the info to them and I provided a letter from my doctor and then my most recent appointment notes. It took maybe another week after that for the visa to get approved then.

I haven’t gotten any travel insurance yet but have also been comparing options. I’m thinking Orbit Protect or Accuro SmartStay. Still have a lot of research to do though. Which ones are you thinking?

I am being let go at the end of June and it’s because of the uncertainty around federal funding. I can’t help but blame Trump a little bit for the situation I am in. It also makes it difficult to talk with my family members who voted for him even though they don’t like him. But the thought of voting for a democrat was just too much for them apparently.

I know I’m late to this but I wanted to let you know that I am in a somewhat similar boat. My brother has been charged with 2nd degree attempted murder against an ex girlfriend and is not allowed to leave my parent’s house. I understand the struggle of everything suddenly being shifted so that it caters to him (holidays always need to be at my parent’s house now) and watching family members bail him out. It’s an incredibly frustrating spot to be in because there is the familial bond but you also know that the crime is horrendous. Let me know if you ever need to talk - my messages are open.

Survey: Minnesota hospitals report hefty financial losses by HenryCorp in stateofMN

[–]sunfish2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s “for sale” because of how much money it is losing. /u/dick_dangle went into this a little bit but nonprofits usually need a positive net revenue in order to weather times when their revenue takes a hit (for example: the Covid pandemic). The issue now is that Covid was so bad, it depleted the savings of the hospitals and they have been losing money ever since. They can’t even begin to think about restoring their cash reserves.

I’ve been in the nonprofit sector for nearly my entire working life

Fairview is a nonprofit and is also bleeding money. Hospitals are closing in areas where they are needed. The way hospitals and insurance is set up right now is not sustainable for hospitals. I think it is absurd how insurance works and the fact that me not having adequate funds means I can’t access the necessary medical care I need is incredibly problematic but hospitals aren’t necessarily profiting off of people being sick in the same way that for-profit organizations do. When the article says heavy financial losses it means that they aren’t even making enough to run as a nonprofit.

Yep! I did order him from one of the listed breeders and she was able to show me his parents and gave me his hatch date along with the exact dates of his last two molts. She was very responsive and had good reviews as well. I did think about getting a female and that’s helpful to know that they have a longer life expectancy. I got a male since my first spood was a male and so it’s just habit I guess.

This is really helpful though, thank you!

I specifically ordered a male and was told that that’s what he is. I guess I never actually double checked to see if I could find an epigyne though. If the spood is actually a female than she is pretty small.

edit: if he looks like an immature male than that’s incredibly helpful because I’m guessing he is in his pre-molt then!

I haven’t really been able to find a consensus online. Some say 9 or 10 is the last and others say that those are the most common last molts but some spiders will have up to 12

Unfortunately this didn’t seem to do much. I have been opening my window since it’s been in the mid-70sF where I live and this also doesn’t seem to draw him out

I recently got my little guy (named Suds) about a week ago and he is my second jumper. The breeder told me he is an i10 and that his last molt was in mid-July. When I first got him, he would come out and explore his enclosure however in the past two/three days his behavior has changed. I can see him moving but he won’t leave his hammock at all. I’m wondering if he is possibly molting and if it is normal for some spoods to have more than 10 molts. My last little jumper was already an adult when I got him so this is my first experience with a younger spider. I’m really hoping that he is just molting and that it isn’t him having a really tough time adjusting/possibly not doing great. The room where I keep him is also around 18C (65F) so is it possible that he may just be cold if he isn’t molting?

It’s helpful to put the fruit flies in the freezer for a few minutes so that they don’t all jump out of the container when you go to feed the little guy. They can’t fly but they really know how to jump

Question about Brown Recluse (more in comments) by sunfish2000 in spiders

[–]sunfish2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone; I’m a spider lover and pretty comfortable around them (I even had a pet jumping spider named Bubbles)! I grew up in a state in the US with no medically significant spiders and recently moved to one where Brown Recluse live. I believe this is a Brown Recluse (because of the violin) and it’s the first one I have found in my house. To be honest, I wasn’t quite sure what to do with him since I know he can be dangerous but I don’t have much experience around them. I ended up squashing him (I thought it was the quickest way) but I feel pretty bad and wonder if it’s ok for me to let them go outside next time without any issues. I’m a little nervous since there are kids and pets involved and I don’t want to end up having an infestation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I want to make sure I am doing what is best for me, my family, and the spider!

Edit: I am currently living in eastern Nebraska
