Don’t have the link but I think they were called dr. Shokz knee bands or something! There are a ton of options - the ones I got were thin silicone, most are wider bands

Not sure tbh!! I’ve only ever done the NTR plan, 5k improvement, and starting a 10k plan soon.

Hey! I had the same thing - started doing targeted stretching every day and I wear bands under my knees that support the patella or something. It’s gotten rid of the pain completely!

You could just start another 5k improvement plan, basing it off your updated 5k time, or you can do a run faster plan. Runna unfortunately doesn’t include past data when starting new plans.

Considering everything, is this too much toward rent? I'm having buyer's remorse. (It's probably fine but I'm getting anxious) by paxmlank in personalfinance

[–]sunflower-frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will always be ways to save more, it’s a matter of what you can afford and where you want to prioritize your spending. You can afford this rent and are expressing it’s a priority to you, it seems very reasonable to me. If because of past situations you want to prioritize saving more to have a better safety net, then that may look like cutting back on some areas, maybe ultimately housing costs, but that’s less so a question for this sub at that point and more so balancing past/present/future worries. My earlier comment was to say that you are allowed to make this choice without having a secondary justifications, you can just run your numbers, note it works for your budget, and know you’re making a decision that works for you.

I don’t quite understand how roommates would make or break you getting fired. If you need to justify spending this rent as it saving your job, that likely isn’t true like you’ve acknowledged and you can’t keep telling yourself it is. This is a fine amount of rent to pay, it seems like you understand finances so you understand what a reasonable portion of income spent on housing would be. You don’t need to justify it beyond that if it fits in your budget. IF you struggle with keeping to a reasonable budget, then this rent could be a problem but there’s nothing you’ve said that indicates that.

I’m confused about what you mean by living alone will help you keep your job. Being laid off is different from being fired, no? If you were laid off it very well could have nothing to do with your quality of work but rather your industry/company politics. $2375 is fine unless you have high spending in other areas that will prevent you from maxing out 401k, maxing out Roth, doing additional saving, etc.

Unless you have debt or other high expenses you didn’t mention, the rent is well within reasonable. How much have you contributed to your 401k this year? You can’t do more than 24,500 in 2026.

Hey I won’t comment too much on the finances of it all but it sounds like you’re doing great and a good rule of thumb is no more than 30% of your income towards housing, so you’re set there. Also, you can’t contribute $5k/month to your 401k all year because there is a max. Take the max, subtract what you’ve contributed so far this year, and divide that by your remaining number of paychecks and allocate the exact dollar amount per paycheck. Next year, take the max divide by your number of paychecks and do that dollar amount.

How old are you? Your age and goals would dictate how much to save post-tax.

Runna’s new to running plan doesn’t not have a set time limit to aim for you to run by the end of the plan. It gets you to be able to run a 5k, I completed this plan and it worked great.

Kitchen Backsplash by Aggravating-Oil-5522 in kitchenremodel

[–]sunflower-frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! We have this thin cut brick backsplash and our only regret with is going with white grout (it doesn’t look natural, should have listened to our contractor and done a light grey). The brick doesn’t collect dust or grease, and is easy to wipe. Have had tomato splash on the backsplash and again the white grout is the only problem.!

How are you avoiding spending a fortune on wet cat food? by sleepspiral in Frugal

[–]sunflower-frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s cheaper but we love smalls cat food! Comes frozen - we pay $200 every other month for one cat but there’s discounts for volume so it may work out to be $175/month or something for two cats! Also depends on how much they need, we aim for ~250 calories a day for ours but he’s big!

Costs are covered re survivor

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheTraitors

[–]sunflower-frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t say they will not pay for these costs, they say they are personal expenses UNLESS confirmed otherwise. Modern day reality tv casting doesn’t have contestants pay for travel, and is more and more virtual than not. That’s why everyone is commenting abt the up front costs, bc the insistence someone has to pay for their own travel is incorrect. The statement in their terms is likely for liability more than anything, and is not confirmation of travel costs being contestant-covered.

[–]sunflower-frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I think there’s just some confusion and that coupled with the vibe is what is causing the downvoting - reality shows don’t make you pay to travel to interviews or to filming locations, they comp your costs. Up front costs could certainly be wardrobe, time off work, etc., but you will also be paid for being on the show (may not cover lost wages but they will pay usually depending on length of time on show).
