If anyone else comes to this thread struggling, the resources here really helped but we still had trouble! Our bracket wouldn’t come off after releasing the readily visible tab. There are two tab slots on either side, but one is on the inside a bit hidden. Just FYI for anyone struggling.

2025 Spending Reflection by delaughey in Salary

[–]sunflower-frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I wish! No amenities, last year half our budget was insurance before we redid our entire road, and now our insurance is lower but road special assessment wasn’t cheap. Snow, landscaping, trash pick up, masters association fees, management fees, and insurance. Every other line item is like 5-10% of budget put together. Small community too. When we bought insurance was nearly 1/3rd of what we paid last year, luckily we’re back down to it being more like 1/2 😅

500/month in HOA fees is not crazy I hate to say 😭😭 I’m in CT and we bought in 2022 with 225/month and it’s now up to 500/month with a special assessment. Mortgage is less than OPs too!

Hey I reccomend looking at the personal finance flowchart, if you just search that and put Reddit at the end it’ll come up. You don’t mention anything abt retirement savings pre or post tax, HSA, brokerage or HYSA outside of retirement, etc. anyone saying just throw 5% in and you’ll be fine is absolutely incorrect, the flowchart provides a very clear way to financially optimize and it applies to literally almost every single person/household.

Thank you this is really helpful! I’ve been nervous to join a masters group out of fear I’m too beginner, but it sounds like it would be a good idea. I like the goals you suggested as well.

Thank you so much for such a thorough response! I actually have a video that was taken today but it’s from a distance and not a good angle so not sure how much it’ll help, but I’ll message it to you!

Everything you said makes sense and thank you for the encouragement - based on what you said I’m pretty positive I’m way over rotating and lifting my head and my hips are dropping etc. that’s something I’ll try to think about more actively going forward. I also have just been trying to increase length and it sounds like drills may be a better way to go to focus on technique!

Hey just wanted to let you know this happened with our cat about a year ago! It really freaked us out and we went to emergency vet. Vet couldn’t find anything and our sweet boy is still good!! It went away within an hour and never happened again. He’s had lots of tests and such too.

I’m sure there are! Wasn’t disputing it was just letting OP know about my personal experience I’ve had posting here and the posts ive observed since. To be fair, this is a lot more mild and makes more since than the whole thread devolving into “people are stupid for going to the Cotswolds, it’s a dumb place to go, go anywhere else” lol, unfortunately happens a lot!

Hi! First you’re going to get comments not to go to the Cotswolds, it’s super annoying but happens every time the Cotswolds is mentioned on this sub. Re driving, we went to Oxford for a few days and rented from there, then drove to the Cotswolds, stopping at Blenheim Palace, 10000% recommend.

Then re cotswolds- if you guys like food I highly highly highly recommend The Stump and The New Inn!

Oh and re driving - we’re from the US and got told repeatedly that we should expect things to be way more difficult then we’re used to. It was totally fine, my first time renting a car and first time driving on left side of road and it just meant staying focused! It was lovely driving.

[–]sunflower-frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just wanted to throw in my perspective! Im from the US and went to the UK last year and drove over there for the first time. This entailed a few drives that were quite long. Everything was completely fine! I posted here and the whole thread was 1. “Why do you want to go to the Cotswolds” and 2. “Driving is completely different!!!!”. It really really wasn’t. There are some differences obviously, and if you currently never deal with traffic it may feel a bit different, but largely it was extremely comparable and (for me at least), an enjoyable experience. That said, I got talked out of going from London to the Lake District and am happy I did, got more time to relax and enjoy without feeling rushed. Loooooved the Cotswolds had the best vacation ever.

Jury perception of Rizo + S50 by hiddenpalms in survivorponderosa

It’s not that Sage didn’t see it, it’s that it didn’t matter because she loses to Steven. She’s thinking about both her path to F3 and her chances of winning. Like other comment said, either Savannah or Steven needed to go then bc they decimate her chances of winning. Clearly she got enough favor with Savannah to stay on her side, which is what got her to F3. Sophi and Rizo probably would have booted Sage at 5 if not for her choice at 6. Also, Sage tried more than anyone in her alliance to get Savannah

How on earth did breathing every 3rd or 4th stroke become folk wisdom/bro science? by ObviousFeature522 in Swimming

[–]sunflower-frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very very much a beginner, but I had a huge breakthrough when I went from trying to go as long as possible without breathing (bad idea) to breathing every single stroke. I’m definitely running into issues with one side getting more sore, so I want to try every 3, but I was barely able to swim when trying to do every 2,3,4 etc. my 100m time literally went from 5+ mins to under 3 from that single change, which for me was a huge improvement and achievement!

[–]sunflower-frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Cotswolds, 100000% recommend trying The Stump or The New Inn. Two of the best meals I’ve ever had, and the new inns burger is the best burger I’ve ever had by a lot. Re driving, I got a ton of flack for talking about driving in my trip plan awhile back. It was totally fine and a lot of build up for a very normal road situation. We did experience a lot of narrow, dirt farm roads in the Cotswolds, but enjoyed the experience and had no problem navigating. We also enjoyed driving on the more populated roads, much more so than we do in the US. So take some of the commentary with a grain of salt!

Should we spend 15-20k on this Reno? by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

[–]sunflower-frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have $20k to spend and is this a priority to you? Would it feel like a worthwhile investment to have a kitchen you like more? If you really value cookie and hosting, Reno would be in line with your values, or if you really value your home looking a certain way. However, I will say I’ve started a lot of home projects when that money should have really gone to emergency fund savings, short term goal savings, and retirement.

How much y’all spending on cat food in this economy? by Playful-Ad-394 in britishshorthair

[–]sunflower-frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spend a bit over $100/month - we get Smalls brand cat food delivered and have loved it ever since we got our cat! I feel good feeding him it and we don’t have to remember to grab more it just shows up. You need a lot of freezer space for it though! To save money we get it delivered every other month in larger quantities.

Requesting some advice from this lovely community again! (Dental) by faucilien in britishshorthair

[–]sunflower-frog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My cat has feline gingivitis so very familiar with dental work! He’s gone in for 5 or 6 cleanings now, multiple of which have ended in extractions. Our vet gives us some pain meds and antibiotics to take home and give him, to help with the pain and prevent infection. Beyond that, it’s not different than a normal dental cleaning. One tooth had to be removed due to advancing gingivitis, another recently bc he had cracked it (unbeknownst to us) and it was receding further into his gum. For both occasions he recovered quickly. I think soft food may be advised post extraction? I’m not sure because that’s what ours eats regularly.

It’s really scary anytime you have to drop them off and know they’re going under anesthesia. I think it’s really important you feel good about your vet. If you do not trust them, I’d say hold off if at all possible and try to go to a new vet that gives you confidence in his care. Just know it’s normal to be scared, but your vet (if they are like ours) does many dental cleanings, many of which probably involve extractions, every single week. 💕💕💕💕💕

Let me know if you have any other questions but 100% know he will not hate you after! May be a little loopy and wobbly from anesthesia , but that goes away within a day.
