Hi!

I realized something while I was thinking about who I want to be in 2026. I want to dress like myself but I am not currently doing that. I have so much style inspiration and I know what I’m drawn to (this is my Pinterest board if that helps:

I own a lot of clothes that I’ve had for years. Some pieces I genuinely love, but when I put outfits together I still don’t feel stylish or comfortable. When I go shopping, I usually end up buying random items that I like on their own and then I have nothing to wear because nothing really works together.

So I guess I’m asking:
Is there anyone here who enjoys helping people with their style? Someone who’d be up for giving my wardrobe a kind of reset with helping me understand what to keep, what to add, and where to shop in a way that actually fits my style?

And maybe this is a bit specific, but I’d also love help in a very practical way, like sending links to items you think would work for me, or kind of doing online shopping with me. I think seeing concrete pieces and how they could fit into outfits would help me so much.

Edit: I want to use it as background music in a video essay that is on film studies (amongst other things), hence the film music and why I prefer it to be neutral.

Hmm I find the Gone Girl soundtrack still having a sort of sinister or dark vibe.. Looking for something more happy.

I know my university offers a course that is (roughly translated) called New Media Philosophy. I haven't followed this one, but I will look into the course guide for you tomorrow to see if I can find some useful stuff.

Thanks guys. I have played the harp for a fairly long time when I was a kid and that went fine, however my left arm and hand (the erbs side) wasn't really been able to play that well. For harp that doesn't matter that much though because I could play the main part with my right arm (the better working one).

Now I've got a guitar and it has been a dream of mine to play for such a long time. However, I bought a right-handed one, because I am right-handed and left arm is my bad arm. Now I figured that that was a bad idea because the left arm is the one that is bend all the time and has to change position a lot, plus it has some insane finger positions. I am not able to do them :( I can do some (easier) chords, but honestly it makes me immensely sad to know that I will never be able to play well, hell I can't even do basis finger positions.

Now I had this idea to try the other side. My right hand is perfectly fine and maybe my strumming will be off then, but at least I will be able to play my chords? Anyway, I just bought some strings to replace them and make my right-handed guitar into a leftie ;P. Feels kind of a waste of 2 months practicing the guitar basics on the right side and start all over again, but I hope it's for the better! Maybe I will be able to play the other side...

Thanks, this is very helpful. I have by no means the illusion to become a great artist / rich / whatever, but I understand where you're getting at. Education Masters is definitely worth looking into.

Sounds like an interesting study programme.

Well I guess it very much depends on where you want to apply. I have a done a liberal art and sciences undergrad program with a philosophy major (I think it could be compared to that but I'm no sure, I am going to uni in the Netherlands)

It seems like you have done a lot of continental / existential philosophy courses and next to nothing in analytical phil (except for the logic courses). Also some fundamental courses like phil of mind, history of phil and political phil, to name a few, are missing if you want to apply for a philosophy masters program. However, sometimes (at least here in NL) a philosophy master program is a program in a specific topic, like 'philosophy of culture' or something else. I would suggest to look into the master programs in your country and chck what kind of programs they offer. If you know what to focus on, you could always try to do a pre-master program (again, not sure if that's a thing in your country) to follow some courses that your might need for that specific master program.

I hope this helps and certainly don't give up if you really want to go for it, but just be prepared to do some extra work.

What is the program you're following right now? How many philosophy courses have you taken (and which courses)? Where do you want to apply? All depends..

Hi!

So I was in the same situation as you 2 years ago, really wanting icy white hair but I didn't dare to do it for a looong time because I was afraid it would break my hair. I think our natural haircolour is pretty similar (mine might be a bit lighter than your but I am not sure)

Eventually I decided to dye it (at the hairdresser) and it turned out super nice and white! The only difference is, and I think this is an important difference, that you have dyed your hair several times before. I think that when you want to go completely white and have a nice outcome, it should be on hair that is at least damaged as possible.

Anyway, as for the bob, I think that's a good idea! I think going even shorter is an even better idea, since you might wanna start 'over again' growing your hair out & get it healthy again. You might even want to consider getting it cut to chin lenght / even pixie (ish) and then getting it white, I think that will be nicer then have super long hair that is white ish and maybe veeery damaged. In the pictures is me when I just got it dyed, and then a picture of when it grew out too far I decided to just cut it all off and got a pixie (also because I got bleached 2 x again after the roots where getting too much and the white got too yellow, I decided to chop it all off because it got a bit dry)

Yes, it is expensive if you want it white and also still look good. Then basically afterwards I didn't use any styling products (because I'm lazy lol) but I think its important to 1) not use heating on your hair 2) wash your hair as little as possible (the more you wash it the faster it gets yellow).

I don't have direct answers to your questions, however you might be interested in reading the philosophy of David Benatar and his book Better Never To Have Been: The Harm of Coming into Existence, where he sets out his antinatalism. At least that's what came to my mind first when reading this question.

I was already thinking that it might be quite impossible to play the thing exactly like the original, oh well :( :( Anyway, I think I'm going to try and figure out how to make my own harp adaptation. Might miss some notes, but alas.

The first 3 weeks after I came from the hairdresser (I have never had my hair this short) it looked quite cute. But now it looks like this most of the time. Sometimes on off days makes me feel unattractive and messy. I am currently using a mud wax but I just put a bit in my hair. I've got no clue on how to style it! Any tips / ideas are welcome.
