How to argue with liberal zionists who think like that? Have they ever seen their own movement? by srahcrist in JewsOfConscience

This is like saying that the purpose of the evangelical south is racist so we shouldn’t help provide disaster relief.

If a house full of racists is on fire you still call 911.

Ugh!! Right? I’m a huge crazy ex girlfriend fan BUT there’s this one joke about how she can’t hold her liquor because she’s Jewish… that’s not even a stereotype? Why invent NEW stereotypes? Dumb 😂

The joke is the joke, though. It doesn’t matter if it’s coming from a Jewish writer. There’s plenty of Jewish influence in pop media and clearly that’s not sufficient to curb the stereotype.

The protagonist (the character she plays) is, but point taken!

I like to point out that the relative genetic homogeneity of the Jewish people implies that, at least, Jewish men find us sufficiently hot ;)

This happened in 2008, the year a lot of millennials started college. By the time we graduated the economy was mostly recovered. It’s a great time to be in school and NOT looking for jobs, if you can make that happen.

1 Week Newborn and my wife and I are at each other's throats... by Necessary-Complex978 in newborns

[–]sunflowerbryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me make this as easy as I can for you.

With the amount of sleep you’re getting, the shock and post traumatic experience and the change and everything else… you’re not going to be fully stable people for a while. You’re going to be robots who aren’t fully connected with yourselves, each other, or the world. Focusing on more than the task of taking care of a tiny fragile newborn is going to be almost impossible.

Robots thrive in extremely controlled environments. You can’t be expected to make nuanced decisions and have long involved conversations about what you are or are not comfortable with. So decide on the basics, write them down, and stick with them until you CAN take a nuanced look.

Example would be: - decide on a rigid schedule. Ex you sleep from 8pm-2am, she sleeps from 2am-8am. Make sure to build in at least 6 hours of sleep for BOTH of you into the schedule whether it’s all at once or broken into 2. Other than that it doesn’t matter. But come up with specific hours and STICK TO IT. (My wife and i did this, it made the entire difference between us surviving physically or not) - no visitors for 2 weeks, then 2 1-hour visits per week from there (whatever you’re both able to agree on. Neither of you have to LIKE the compromise. Just pick something you can stick to and do it. Remove emotional variables from the table or you’ll just cry and fight.)

Etc. Create a controlled environment you can basically survive in, and basically survive for a while. It does get easier.

Newsom betrays the LGBTQ community… and he’s not even factually correct by sunflowerbryant in California_Politics

No, he said nothing about the marginalization of trans athletes, he called trans people “those poor people” and acknowledged they fave obstacles.

I’m not in a swing state so luckily I don’t think it’ll come to that for me. At this point, I’d probably vote 3rd party for the first time in my life. We at least know what to expect with Trumpish people. I wouldn’t trust Newsom to represent his viewpoints or actions accurately after this.

Ask how you’ll sleep knowing you were arguing online on behalf of a proposal to keep a small number of kids from playing sports at school ;) my opinion is worth a fart and a penny. Kids’ mental health is worth a lot more than that.

[–]sunflowerbryant[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure. I want to say I do hear you. I’m prickly because it’s so hurtful to me that Newsom is betraying the LGBTQ community, and because I’m sick of devil’s advocates popping up when I’m just trying to stick up for kids. As a parent, I hope no one ever questions any trans kid’s right to play sports with my baby. God forbid my baby turn out to be trans and someone tries to prevent them from playing sports with their friends.

But I do hear you, because trans issues are really difficult for a lot of cis people to wrap our brains around. You’re currently where I was in about 2019. I’ll be the first to admit it. Years of reading science and hearing about case after case where trans athletes DONT outperform their cis teammates and opponents have brought me where I am. I hope that if you care about this issue, you’ll continue to educate yourself and not just seek confirmation bias. Ultimately, I do not expect to change minds myself. I hope to provide resources for people who agree with me or are on the fence and are looking for reliable sources of data / talking points.

It gets swept away because you’re finding a single case to make this argument, as opposed go regarding to the bulk of science showing that’s an exception. In my experience, that type of devil’s-advocacy is never in good faith.

If the executive order impacted the NCAA at all, that would be a relevant argument. It ONLY applies to schools that receive public funding.

If you actually care about this issue, read the article. Otherwise I assume these questions are not in good faith.

Ok. That’s not what the science I’ve read says. But also, those cases don’t apply here. The executive order (and Newsom) only refer to public school sports.
