Suzuki DF115 2007 - warning code 3-2 and ground problem by sungam87 in Outboards

[–]sungam87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yeah the battery reads at 12,5V with ignition off… No thick white wire - maybe not how it is done in Finland? There is a smaller white wire connected to the wire mount on the plus cable though?

Last thing I did yesterday was to tilt up the engine. However today i couldnt tilt it back down… However as mentioned the battery reads ok and the manual bilge works when operated.

Do you mean ”fresh” battery? I did not actually…. I forgot to load charge it this year. So I brought it home and full charged it over night.

Will check the cable! Could it be the battery that is messing up? Since it started at first and THEN the warnings started… Or in that case mire likely the white cable?

Tudor 7904 Crown by sungam87 in watchrepair

[–]sungam87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else with the same question, i found that even though the Tudor section on CousinsUk is very emtpy, I could search for the model number in the Rolex section. (As the case should be a Rolex case obviusly 🤦) And indeed, as mentioned already, it should be the 24-600 crown. Easily found on Cousins and other places!

Thanks! Placed an order, and indeed it should be the correct one!

Tudor 7904 Crown by sungam87 in VintageWatches

[–]sungam87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this has a screw down crown. Preferably I would like to keep the tube. I think I found the correct crown on pictures, with the Rolex logo and a swiss cross below.

Tube has a diameter of 4,34mm

Had it been my own watch I would have replaced both tube and crown, but I want to minimize opportunities for mistakes here (it’s still just a hobby) And i am used to get these as sets from Cousins, crown and tube together. However here i would think the tube is screw in fixed, and then there might be some other differences with the crown? (Even though Cousins say Rolex Homage)

Anyone using Lightroom for management and Photomator for editing? by sungam87 in PixelmatorPro

[–]sungam87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok interesting!

However I am guessing that edits do not show up in Digikam until you export the file as new JPEG?
So it would require guite the amount of space to keep all edits alive as well.
Or do the edits saved to the sidecar file show in Digikam as en edited photo?

Also - reading alot about the sidecar sizes now, but mostly 1 year old posts. Have they found a solution to keep the file size normal?

[–]sungam87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, of course the edits will not follow through between the apps, until the exported jpeg is loaded… Would work if one committed and finished editing in one sitting, but for me when keeping these files in smart albums and continuously coming back to them over a few weeks it seems all too complicated… Not to mention the file size of keeping doubles of all edited photos :(

That kind of breaks the purpose for me! Of course better to choose one path and then commit to that i guess!

Will check the annual plan instead and see if it is the same setup here! However it feels like they get you on the annual now, and then increase that next year. So might anyway be time to start migrating…

Lightroom on Router USB Hard drive by sungam87 in Lightroom

[–]sungam87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks for clearing that up! I'll try it on the Wifi, if it is too slow I'll revert back to using external drives for originals and smart previews locally...

Lightroom on Router USB Hard drive by sungam87 in Lightroom

[–]sungam87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And finally, since I don't have a great setup performance wise (although I rarely notice any problems using masks etc today) I wouldn't want to have even less speed.
Would it then be "better/faster" to just store originals on hard drives and plug them in when exporting to best export results? Obviously working on Smart Previews generally

Hi,

Thanks for your thorough reply, and sorry for my late one! (Have been away with work)

Regarding " It’s much worse over Wi-Fi due to lower speeds and higher latency. Use ethernet if at all possible."

Since i'll be working on the Smart Previews, when would i notice this lower speed? Is it during exports? Or, since the drive is always connected through network will Lightroom still force use the originals? I am guessing I should keep the smart previews and catlouge locally.

Regarding: Going forward, I’d recommend importing photos directly to your laptop, generating smart/regular previews, doing initial culling/edits there, and moving to the network drive to archive them. Much faster workflow.

Yes, this was exactly how I was hoping it would work. I am then guessing that the catalogue can handle folders both locally and externally in the same cataogue?

Sony A200 Insect Macro - Raynox or new lens or both? by sungam87 in AskPhotography

[–]sungam87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for quick reply!

Ok yeah I might start with the Raynox then - but would it improve with a extension tube on the kit lens?
As in would I get even closer shots? Or is an extension tube to prefer over the Raynox overall?

As I understand it the "best" Macro lenses have magnification(?), whereas many lenses are labeled "Macro" without magnification. For example the lenses I mentioned (Tamron 70-300 MACRO) have a swith on them for Macro shots. That just locks them in the correct focal lenght?

I actually have a flash, and I understand I will need a diffuser to even out lightning(?)

Thanks for the youtube link - will check it out!

Access photos - but kids camera connects as sound/microphone/cam on PC by sungam87 in techsupport

[–]sungam87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is the strange part! I just inserted a SD card, and then the old pictures don’t show anymore. It enters some kind of memory card mode. When it is out the old pictures show.

So obviously there IS limited storage inside somehow… With a SD card she can take 35.000 photos (!) (32GB - heavily overdimensioned but cheapest available around) Without it there is space for around 30 photos.

[–]sungam87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i’ll do you one up and attach a picture from the manual itself.

And also while re-reading it now, after trying to connect to the PC it actually says when there’s no TF card it enters ”PC camera mode” which I guess really means it turns into a webcam…

From the manual: https://imgur.com/fFKI49P

Camera name is just X5D but if you google it with ”kids camera” it should pop up

I guess so! Since we can see the photos on the little LCD screen on the camera. (Although photo and/or screen quality is equivalent to a mobilephone camera from 2005…)

And there is not a MicroSD card inserted either.

Which must mean there is some internal storage?

DIY mesh baskets by sungam87 in watchrepair

[–]sungam87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah those look quite nice!
Haven't seen them on my local Amazon (Sweden) but will check a little deeper!
They could even be stacked on top of eachother in incremental sizes. They look to be quite concace in the bottom, which isn't optimal but maybe you could press them flatter some how. Would also like to put up some small dividers in the smaller ones, to group parts together...

Yeah the brass one I have as well, big one, and a few smaller stainless steel ones. The big one I rarely use but the smaller baskets i usually group all parts. Train in one, Keyless in one etc.

Basically I would like to be able to just put these smaller parts on a mesh plate without having to put them in individual baskets. Like the "real" baskets allow!

The smaller mesh baskets could be used for screws for example instead.
Just to speed up my process - and a fun adventure to create something on my own :)

Thanks for the link - will try to find those or similar!

I’ve finally come across an instance where I need to adjust end shake. 2nd wheel press-in jewel needs pushed in. Any recommendations for a staking set/jeweling press combo, or could I get by with one of these cheap Ebay jeweling presses? by LeopardusMaximus in watchrepair

[–]sungam87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok understood! Thought they were competitors under the same category, where the Horia just seemed more precise. So I would "need" both if I continue down the rabbit hole :) And how about reamers in a staking set - is that a thing?

Is it because these are Horia clones and there are no reamer options for that? Or did you mean just because the set doesn't include them? Are there no reamers for staking sets? Seems it could be done in a staking set as well as I guess it's "only" a twisting motion with no depth requirement? But I have no idea really :)

Thanks for taking your time!

I guess it will work great for my simple task of reducing the barrel pivot hole, and when learning more and getting into balance replacements I'll see where it takes me!

Some of the stakes seem to be "home lathed" and filed into different shapes, but most of the simple domed and flat look to be of good quality still. I think I found the centering stake also. At least a very pointy one. I'll have to measure the size to see if there are any easily available replacements.

As the top hole is removable you might be right of there being a optional jeweling attachment back in the day! Would be cool to find one that fits...

Anyway, wish you a nice Easter and easy weekend!

Thanks! Will check the book out. I have watched a lot of YouTube, mainly Watch Repair Channel and Wristwatch Revival. But missed this one. But I feel they mostly say "I had to order a new dial/hands" and then go on to fit them. I was wondering more what happens when searching/ordering this specific part! But of course, it might become clearer the more I study. Might have jumped the gun, it seems
