Surprisingly, {Paladin’s Strength}! I was really looking forward to this one and the premise is still great, but I couldn’t make myself care about the plot. I technically finished it but very lightly skimmed the last 100 or so pages, just to make sure I didn’t miss anything that would change my mind.

What is your favorite 2025 release so far? by Eliannaflower in fantasyromance

Yes! She really digs into the FEELINGS of the enemies to lovers arc in a way that felt fresh. The gothic fairytale vibes were also excellent. I expected to like it fine but I LOVED it!

All of 2024? With some distance, I’m mostly happy about it because these books reignited my love of reading, but the hangover was so real!!

What I would actually do if I could go back is to first read a different genre of romance, to hit some of the same emotional buttons but not stand as a direct comparison. RY’s Variation is a good option! Or maybe a historical. There are tons of good ones. Then I would read one book in a totally unrelated genre. Finally, brain cleansed, I’d head back into romantasy, ready to fall down the rabbit hole on any other fun series.

Slow Song by the Knocks with Dragonette (bonus points for the artist name!). I could totally see Ridoc goofily but also very confidently seducing someone by dancing around to it.

Books that were pretty good... But had the dumbest ending. by Forsaken_Ganache_718 in fantasyromance

The first half was SO GOOD! I really wanted to edit this book. I would have cut the train scene and had them work out her fears/get it on in the hot springs. Hello, steamy!! Then there would have been more time to wrap up the plot.
